Minor League Recaps: 5/15

Richmond 2, Indianapolis 3 (Final 11 inn.)

  • W. Timmons - 2-5 2B
  • J. Borchard - 1-1 HR(4)
  • D. Moss - 4IP 5H 0R 2BB 5K

Former Braves great Damian Moss threw four solid innings in the start but the offense couldn't muster much in support of him. Joe Borchard did hit a pinch hit homer in the 8th which sent the teams into extras. Wes Timmons has a couple of hits and I kind of wish he would get called up this year and get a a couple of at bats because the guy has been in the organization since 2002 and has spent parts of 4 years at Richmond. He is just one of those classic organizational guys that I'd like to see rewarded for staying with the team for so long.

Mississippi 4, Chattanooga 6

  • R. Gorecki - 3-4 HR(1)
  • M. Young -  2-5 RBI, 2 K

Dan Smith gave up 6 runs in the first 2 innings of the game. That pretty much sealed the deal for the other 7 innings. Reid Gorecki is a guy we picked up a few days ago. He is a pretty good hitter and has been around for a while (mostly in the St. Louis system). He has been injured enough the past couple of seasons for the Cardinals to release him and the Braves quickly snapped him up to build up their surplus of journeymen OFs at Mississippi.

Myrtle Beach 3, Potomac 4

  • E. Mejia - 1-4 2B, K
  • B. Hicks - 1-2 HR(5), 2 RBI, 2 BB
  • P. Britton - 2-4 HR(1), 2 K

Hicks gets back to hitting a little and I'm encouraged by the fact that he did walk twice and didn't strike out any. For a college guy he racks up a lot of Ks. Phil Britton is a guy I was high on last season but he hasn't done a whole lot this season. Looking at his stats though he is hitting .252 which isn't bad for a catcher that plays half his games in Myrtle Beach. I'll give him some more time.

har har har…got a link funny guy? Don’t just say the Braves, because I’ve looked on the site – and looked else where and so far haven’t seen a thing regarding Stockman being recalled.

Well you asked and I answered…. You can believe or wait for the official release of the info..

Well since I don’t know you in the least bit, I’ll wait. But just to come here and say that, and not back up you’re claim is pretty shoddy.

nothing on ESPN or the braves site, I guess we’ll find out in about 15 minutes.

if chuck gets sent down, who starts next…tuesday/wednesday? CHARLIE MORTON!? ...who gets sent down in THAT case?!

Well, I told you that my source was the Atlanta Braves..which was 100 percent true.. I don’t know how you wanted me to “back up my claim”...

Oh I dunno, with Facts maybe. A source I dunno maybe you’ve heard of such a thing. I happen to also to be the Queen of England.

Wow! You’re royalty!

Am I supposed to bow or something? :P

I told you the facts….holy poop. I posted to let info hungry people on this site know whats going on earlier than the official release would let you know. Everyone was wondering what was going on with a call up..I told them..
Anything short of that would be selfish wouldnt it…? ; )

And the source was me, trickling from Frank Wren I guess, or whoever made the decision. I wasn’t part of the decision making process…sorry

And no I’m not royalty at all. No you don’t have to bow for anything, I gave info to a group of people I assumed wanted the information. No need for the attitude Queen..

see the problem with this is you don’t even get it. No one considers YOU as a valid source of information. Did Frank Wren call you personally and tell you? Or did it get beamed directly into your brain? Or did you, I don’t know, read it somewhere and if so could you possibly share that point of information. But it is moot now.

No No No, Yonda, I get it just fine. I get it perfectly as a matter of fact. And what you don’t get, is that I told as much as I could. I apologize that no one considers me as a valid source of info, can’t blame you, but you can’t really say info I’ve posted has been verified as false by Braves players or personnel….I posted the info for everyone to know who might want to know, just like I posted about the first time Stockman was called up before it was made public, just like I posted about Evarts being hurt when no one could find anything about him… I answered the questions about my source as much as I would allow… So, I’ll say it again so you or anyone else who still doesn’t get it, might get it… I can’t tell the “direct source” ... It wasn’t “public info”... I wasn’t citing a web site or an article… It was direct info, to me, and if you don’t get it by now, you never will…. But make no mistake yonda, I get it just fine

Moss

Anybody think he has any chance of getting a shot in the show? I mean, he does have one pretty good year under his belt in the big leagues. Granted, he comes with some major baggage (coughsteroidscough) but I like him over Child’s Play Chuckie now.
