Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

1 in a row! Now let's see how the new lineup does against a lefty!

Edge of your seat game and its was 8-0.  This ballpark is arena league.  Terrible.  How about tonight?  Here is my lineup, I was correct about Kelly, he looks like a different guy batting 7th. Armchair managering is better than nothing!  The Phillies aren't too great against lefties either, I hope that can continue 1 more game.  No name calling from the fellow bloggers lately, there is hope.

Yunel, Infante, Chipper, Tex, Andruw Franceour,McCann,Diaz ,Kotsay, James.

Dude...

...you weren’t right about Kelly. He’s stepped into the batters box 8 times as our 7th hitter this season. Maybe he should strictly be a pinch hitter for the rest of the season, since he averages a grand slam every 2nd at bat! Chill the fuck out.

Leave Him Be.

This is just the way he’s going to be, so let him. If he wants to ground his arguments in truthiness and bait us into arguments so he gets some attention, then I’m just going to let it all slide. Knock yourself out, buddy; it’s all you!

Lineup

Is there a reason you are sharing “your” lineup with us?

any reason you have the ice cold francoeur hitting above the red hot mccann?

any reason you have the horrid omar infante starting?

fuck it, why not just pull chuck after an inning tonight so he doesn’t get hurt, right?

Let's Be Fair

Omar Infante is horrid? Wow, I didn’t realize a .308 average since joining the club could be considered horrid. Not to mention the fact that homie plays excellent defense. Bobby is just trying to give KJ a reason to play harder/better. I respect it.

Brian McCann has been on a tear the past week (dude has an OPS over 1). But Frenchy’s .364 batting average in the past seven days ain’t nothing to shake a stick at. Still, with Frenchy making some improvement, there’d be no reason to move him ahead of McCann.

.308 in 13 ABs man…horrid no…but he still gets outs more than 70% of the time for his career. That’s unbelievable bad (his LH split for his career is actually worse than his RH split).

I’m against any platoon that involves KJ in the first place (he’s not going to learn to hit LH if he never has the chance to), and I’m just afraid Bobby might give Infante too many ABs like he did with Langerhans and Willie Harris in the past.

Right on...

IMHO Bobby juggles the lineup a little too much. I don’t know if he truly is trying to please everyone by giving them a chance to play or what, but I would like to see a more “everyday” lineup used. Hard to do though when Chipper has so many little injuries and Tex needs so many days off and you don’t don’t have a true every day left fielder or second baseman on the team! And, we need a good, young, healthy, power-hitting first baseman about as badly as anyone can need one. Any ideas out there?

Where do you get that “Tex” needs sooo many days off? He’s missed a couple games, big deal. He’s bound to miss a few here and there, but the way you’re talking it sounds like he’s in and out of the line up a lot – which isn’t the case.

He didn’t miss a start when he came over last year, did you expect him to not get injured? Back Spasms suck (trust me I know) and hey if he can’t play – he can’t play. But to make it sound like this is a reoccurring problem is unfounded.

Uh, last time I checked Kelly is the everyday secondbase man, and has been since the start of last year?

What team are you watching anyways?

I agree with you about Tex...

...but Kelly is still getting the shaft in certain situations. I have no clue why Bobby feels the need to play Infante or Gotay against a LH when they both own a career OPS of less than .700 (Gotay’s is less than .600). Small sample sizes, yes, but then again so is Kelly’s (.739).

And like I stated before…he isn’t going to get better against them unless he plays. You can’t platoon the kid for his whole career.

Uh huh...

I’ll give you that there are a lot of players taking more time off than Tex, but get used to him not being there at all after this season. As for KJ, lots of people on this board seem to love him. I liked him as an outfielder, but haven’t seen anything yet that makes me think he is an “everyday” second baseman. Sorry, just my observation. I’ve had back surgery three times myself, so back spasms are understandable and yes, they are recurring. All in all I just don’t see this team as a contender at this point. We are very fortunate that someone in the division isn’t playing well right now. Hopefully, for our sake that remains the case for a while.

Outpitched to say the least . . .

Well we looked great once again against southpaws and James proved he is not a major leaguer. Home for awhile and we need to pick it up because it ain’t going to be easy. Chipper, how’s first base for next year? Could you? You are getting better with age except your a little fragile. Heal fast.

Then, what's the option at third?

I also like the idea of Chipper at first, so do you move Yunel over to third and give Lillibridge a shot at shortstop? Just asking. I think it would be interesting. Comments?

by BBFAN46 on May 20, 2008 7:56 AM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Lillibridge had a shot

...and went 0-for-4 with 3 Ks. He was also .195/.267/.273 in his first 19 games this season. He is currently .183/.244/.248 after 28 games and 109 ABs. I don’t think he’s quite ready.
