Minor League Recap: 5/14

Richmond  6, Indianapolis 3

  • J. Anderson - 2-5 2 RBI
  • B. Canizares - 2-4 HR(6), RBI
  • C. Sammons - 2-4 2 2B
  • F. Bueno -  6IP 5H 0R 1BB 5K

The Richmond pitching staff has been very good so far this year with Bueno, Morton and Reyes all pitching well so far. Bueno has settled in during his last two starts after having a rough stretch. Phil Stockman's ERA is sitting at .77 and really deserves a spot in the MLB bullpen. Whose place should he take?

Montgomery 11, Mississippi 10

  • J.C. Holt - 3-5 3B, 4 RBI, SB
  • J. Perry - 1-6 HR(9), 2 RBI, 2 K
  • J. Guzman - 3-5 2B, RBI, K
  • J. Gamble - 5IP 1H 0R 2BB 3K

Just wow. If I were Jerome Gamble (former Boston farmhand who pitched in Independent last season) I would be pissed. VERY PISSED. Dude throws 5 innings of 1 hit ball and leaves the game with a 10 run lead and they lose. The amazing Dustin Evans came in and couldn't get an out while allowing 5 runs. His road map to Atlanta is set in stone. Perry continues to hit for power for the team however but that is about all the good that came from this game.

Myrtle Beach 4, Potomac 5

  • E. Mejia - 2-4 2 RBI, K
  • T. Jones - 1-4 2B, BB

Reynoso gave up a homer to start the game and it didn't get much better from there. That snapped the Pelicans 6 game winning streak but they still lead the division by 6 games. Mejia gets back to hitting after ending his hitting streak and they scattered the rest of the hits for their runs.

Augusta 8, Rome 7

  • C. Miles - 3-5 RBI, SB
  • M. Fisher - 5-7 RBI, SB
  • F. Freeman - 2-7 2B, HR(3), 3 RBI, K

Eric Barret got hammered for the second straight start tonight giving up 5 runs in 1.1 innings. Edgar Osuna came in to relieve him and struck out 7 in 4.2 innings and only gave up 1 run. Freddie Freeman's power is really starting to show a bit and I can't help but be excited about that. Cody Johnson made an error in the top of the 13th to allow the game winning run to to score, but hey, at least they scored more runs in this game than they had in the last 6 against this Augusta team combined.

Is there any question?

Stockman and Resop should be switching places right…about…NOW!

Stockman

Absolutely Resop should be gone in favor of Stockman. Resop hasn’t even pitched since May 3rd. What’s the point of keeping him on the team?
