Braves at Pirates, Game 2... For the love of all that is holy, WIN!

Atlanta @ Pittsburgh

Seriously, this road record has reached absurdity. And now Teixeira has back spasms. I really despise games in which we have more hits than our opponent, but still manage to lose. Hudson has to get us back on track in Game 2.

Next Game

Atlanta Braves
@ Pittsburgh Pirates

Monday, May 12, 2008, 3:35 PM EDT
PNC Park

Tim Hudson vs Phil Dumatrait

Take a look

at Van Benschoten’s stats: http://mlb.mlb.com/stats/individual_stats_player.jsp?playerID=429724&statType=2

Obviously, he really sucks. So we have no chance.

by sddbaker on May 12, 2008 3:38 PM EDT   0 recs

doomed.

He will look like warren spahn this afternoon.

by jug on May 12, 2008 3:41 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

nothing like

ATJ to lead-off with a K. The domination of JVB begins. He will probably have a perfect game.

by jug on May 12, 2008 3:43 PM EDT   0 recs

a perfect game

would not allow us to have any LOB…

so won’t happen.

by sddbaker on May 12, 2008 3:46 PM EDT   0 recs

good point

and the no-hitter already broken up by Yunel. But he’ll be LOB.

by jug on May 12, 2008 3:47 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

alright

0-1 in the first, 1 out.

c’mon rake…stick to PH.

by jug on May 12, 2008 3:53 PM EDT   0 recs

so depressing

nothing worse than missing a day game while at work. Oh wait, yeah there is. Missing it after they’ve been shutout with more hits than the opposition. Oh wait, it gets worse even? Missing TWO day games that we’re going to lose?

Someone, please, make yourself a player.

by traphicg on May 12, 2008 3:53 PM EDT   0 recs

Pete

just announced that the Braves will not lose all the rest of their road games.

That’s a relief.

by sddbaker on May 12, 2008 3:56 PM EDT   0 recs

Huh?

Yahoo original said the game started at 4:05, and here we are already losing.

by Smoltz's Beard on May 12, 2008 3:59 PM EDT   0 recs

are you

more surprised the game already started, or that we are already losing?

by jug on May 12, 2008 4:01 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

little from column A, little from column B

by Smoltz's Beard on May 12, 2008 4:02 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

that GIDP

was at least a little different…

by sddbaker on May 12, 2008 4:05 PM EDT   0 recs

looked the same on Gamecast

by Smoltz's Beard on May 12, 2008 4:05 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

tough play

Weird hop, tough play for someone who is used to being on the bench or DHing…

by A49erFan77 on May 12, 2008 4:11 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

yeah

that is accurate

by jug on May 12, 2008 4:12 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

wasn't...

horrible. but should have been routine. The worst part was he should have just let All Thumbs Jefferson grab it. At least the E would have been on Thumbs and not the rake.

by jug on May 12, 2008 4:11 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

i'm not watching on tv

so I’m wondering the same thing…

by sddbaker on May 12, 2008 4:10 PM EDT   0 recs

just watched it..

on video… I think he should have had it. Well, Tex would have had it anyway.

by sddbaker on May 12, 2008 4:13 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

we can bunt for a base hit

but not for a sacrifice?

by mvandonsel on May 12, 2008 4:12 PM EDT   0 recs

hey

you can’t have everything

by sddbaker on May 12, 2008 4:15 PM EDT   0 recs

HS

we are tied!

by jug on May 12, 2008 4:15 PM EDT   0 recs

Hahahahaha

Damn, I dropped down a few posts in the old thread back there. Didn’t realize that a new one was present until a run scored, and nobody said a thing.

Blanco gets on, steals a base, and knocked in by Escobar. That kinda sounds like what leadoff hitters are supposed to do..

by 10-4 on May 12, 2008 4:21 PM EDT   0 recs

'beard

you missed a dude with a helluva bead and an old school braves hat.

by jug on May 12, 2008 4:21 PM EDT   0 recs

haha…are we talking a well maintained beard, or Ted Kaczynski style?

by Smoltz's Beard on May 12, 2008 4:47 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

No.

Goatee. More Eukilis-esque.

by jug on May 12, 2008 4:50 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Doug sounds.

Not happy about that one.

by Perrinbar on May 12, 2008 4:26 PM EDT   0 recs

Say what?

FYF with the hitting? S’okay SK will GIDP for us. bring it back home.

by Perrinbar on May 12, 2008 4:32 PM EDT   0 recs

woah

2 RBIs for the killa.

by jug on May 12, 2008 4:34 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Yay!

I was wrong. Please let us win on the road finally. That’d be a nice plane ride, for them at least.

I hate to be a buzzkill

But there’s one guy we haven’t seen in quite a while.

His name starts with a T, ends with an L, and his first name is “The”

jeez

come on, too early…only the 4th.

Plus, Bennett has had about an hour to rest. He should be ready to go.

by jug on May 12, 2008 4:37 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Haha

Too true. Bennett’s arm is going to pop out of its socket like Gary Busey in Rookie of the Year.

by royhobbs on May 12, 2008 4:38 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Or like

Peter Moylan.

by jug on May 12, 2008 4:40 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

For a 29 year old...

Bobby sure treats Bennett like a 38 year old come back veteran stop-gap relief pitcher that they have no intention of using the next year.

Shouldn't need "The Towel"...

Huddy will probably go 8…

by A49erFan77 on May 12, 2008 4:43 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Huddy.

Yard. It’s happening.

by Perrinbar on May 12, 2008 4:37 PM EDT   0 recs

+1 if

They talk about his superb bat while at Auburn.

that was actually

very close to being gone.

by jug on May 12, 2008 4:38 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I'm sitting here yelling

GO!!! GO!!! GOOOOOOO!!!! On huddy’s fly out.

by mvandonsel on May 12, 2008 4:39 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Woah...

...my boss came over to talk to me, and we score 2 runs? Very nice.

by Smoltz's Beard on May 12, 2008 4:48 PM EDT   0 recs

Useless trivia via Boog

Matty Alou- 1st batter in Fulton Co. Stadium (played for Pittsburgh)
Felipe Alou- 1st Braves batter there
Moises Alou- Last batter ever

by jug on May 12, 2008 4:49 PM EDT   0 recs

You knew it was coming

And all of them pissed all over their hands to get their iron-like soft batting grip.

You guys know

that Tommy G was drafted by the LA Kings?

by mvandonsel on May 12, 2008 4:51 PM EDT   0 recs

I do now

thanks to Boog and Joe

by jug on May 12, 2008 4:52 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Yeah…2nd round as a LW, I believe.

He was actually being interviewed durint the NHL playoff game last night.

by Smoltz's Beard on May 12, 2008 4:55 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I am glad

he chose baseball.

by jug on May 12, 2008 4:57 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I'm surprised

Jug, you didn’t catch the IN MY OWN WORDS TOM GLAVINE, in the 72 times SportSouth’s already played it?

He chose baseball for longevity, and clearly he chose correctly.

by royhobbs on May 12, 2008 4:58 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Nope

only seen pieces of it.

by jug on May 12, 2008 5:00 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I knew that years and years ago, like when Tommy first came up.

by RainDelay on May 12, 2008 9:24 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

yeah

that was painful and disgusting to watch.

by jug on May 12, 2008 4:55 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Yeah…the worst I ever saw was when Jason Kendall broke his leg. Anyone remember that?

by Smoltz's Beard on May 12, 2008 5:04 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Back when Kendall was on the Pirates...

...he tried to make an extra step and beat out a grounder, but hit the bag akwardly and went tumbling. When he finally stopped he was on his back clutching his leg, broken right between the ankle and knee…pretty much looked like it was hanging on by a thread.

by Smoltz's Beard on May 12, 2008 5:12 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Unfortunately

But I saw worse playing football. Guy had a similar ankle injury as Kendall’s. Cut right off my block, tried to do a spin move and spun off his ankle.

by jug on May 12, 2008 5:06 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I can't

find any on YouTube. Didn’t Hideki Matsui break his wrist a couple seasons ago?

by jug on May 12, 2008 5:09 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Yeah...

...looked about the same as Wells’

by Smoltz's Beard on May 12, 2008 5:10 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Yeah.

that won was bad too. His wrist was flopping around.

by mvandonsel on May 12, 2008 5:10 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

This is the inning...

...we need to put it out of reach right now.

by Smoltz's Beard on May 12, 2008 4:56 PM EDT   0 recs

WOAH!

WTF is going on here? HEAP goes DEAP!

by jug on May 12, 2008 5:00 PM EDT   0 recs

HEAAAAAAAAAAP

That’s why he is my favorite toddler brave.

by Perrinbar on May 12, 2008 5:00 PM EDT   0 recs

Yeah…he’s surpassed Francoeur IMO.

by Smoltz's Beard on May 12, 2008 5:02 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Also.

Finally good to make an average pitcher look it.

by Perrinbar on May 12, 2008 5:01 PM EDT   0 recs
