Braves @ Rockies NAHWAL?
Shouldn't there be a NAHWAL for today's game? I didn't see it anywhere yet. Feel free to yell at me for being a noob, but I thought there was one for every game.

Yeah, looked good tonight. Funny though, that he really didn't/doesn't throw the ball very hard. Think he hit 86 MPH once.
Also, funny that the announcers on SS don't know what to call the humidor where they keep the baseballs out there. Thermidor? Humidifier?

Not bad. He is def. a ground ball pitcher.
Crazy the whole pulmonary embolism thing. That could have killed him, literally. Impressive that he has come back from that. Did they say he had some ribs removed?

called it.
when boyer double tulo, i said that he was going to walk helton, and give up a 3-run homer to holliday. somehow he struck out helton with a questionable pitch, but then i said that it doesn't change the fact that holliday was going to hit a 2-run homer.

Yeah...
...I saw that .160 avg and knew Holliday was going to hurt us, especially after his HR last night.
Time to spoil a save from Corpas...

Yeah No Doubt
I was listening on XM, and as soon as the HR cleared the wall, I tossed the headphones aside, rolled over, and went to sleep. Lucky for me I was already tired, so I didn't have a chance to sit there and steam.
Did anyone else think we were swinging at WAY too many first pitches last night? I've come to expect it from frenchy, but it was like an epidemic last night.

think it had to do with the weather? I almost got the feeling everyone just wanted to get their AB over with, and even get the game over as quickly as possible. The aggressiveness seemed to work in the first, though beyond that a little patience would have been better IMO.

I remember...
Skip Caray once saying "if you think you're going to ground into a double play, just strike out."

Blaine Boyer
is the Robbie Gordon of baseball.
All he does is get in the way and cause wrecks.
Seriously. Dude sucks.
Go Vols!

This is where I say "It's early..."
But my god, is Boyer stinking up the joint. We can all try to make excuses, about how it's cold, or it's still early in the season, or that he hasn't found his groove yet, but let's face it, seven games into the season, and I'm already feeling the anxiety whenever I see him coming out of the 'pen.
My only fear is that Bobby doesn't wait as long as he did with Macay McBride to sever ties with someone who is clearly following in similar footsteps.

Completely agree...
...was not comfortable seeing him toe the rubber. Do we really not have anyone else who can induce a groundball, aside from Moylan? I was hoping Cox would have used some sort of combination to get through the 7th and Moyly (Moylie, sp?) could have been the setup man that he's supposed to be.
Four losses this year that could have been wins...can we hurry up and beat the Mets again so I can turn my life outlook around?

glavine
is the new smoltz. good starts, no run support.
Hard to expect a win if you can't get any offense past the 1st inning. Now, I cannot take anything away from Cook. He was sharp. Really pitched well. But, I didn't think we did a good job of waiting for pitches to hit and ended up grounding out instead of driving the ball.
Anyway, not sure what to make of Boyer. Looks like the rest of the pen, especially Moylan, have bounced back from the first few games where they had problems. To his credit, he does have 10 Ks, but also 5 ERs. Hopefully he'll settle in. We don't have all that many options in the pen.

Hmmm...
I thought the bullpen was supposed to be a strength? Or were we looking to deal some of them in spring training because we were overflowing in mediocrity?

A shame
That someone had to lose that duel, especially when that someone is us. But at least it wasn't horrific like those losses to the Pirates. Glavine was brilliant, a real pleasure to watch.
Oh well, four game series. Go Braves.
