Open Thread and NAHWAL: Mets at Braves (4/4)

New York Mets at Atlanta Braves, Apr 4, 2008 7:35 PM EDT

So I think the one thing that might be good for the Braves tonight (though, it could also be disastrous) is that the weatherman says it’s supposed to rain -- scattered t-storms. (Actually, from 1 to 4 they are isolated t-storms, then from 4 to the end of the night they are scattered t-storms -- someone has to explain to me the difference… isolated and scattered, same same.)

A rain out could be just the thing the Braves need to recharge their bullpen, but a rainout in, say the third inning that last a while, could mean the bullpen has to work extra long again tonight. We’ll have to keep a close eye on the weather and see if this game will actually be played.

Mr. Glass was officially placed on the 15-day disabled list and the sometimes combustible Jo-Jo Reyes was recalled from Richmond to serve as the mop-up man long reliever.

Thank the heavens

We need at least a day to rest our poor poor bullpen, so Bobby can manage to get Resop two appearances a game for the rest of the season.

Makeup?

Has anyone said anything about a makeup date?

by VegasAces on Apr 4, 2008 7:43 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

yeah

Something about a day game double headed next time the mets are in town. A Sunday I think. Shows how much attention I was paying.

by Perrinbar on Apr 4, 2008 7:50 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Next question...

What happens to the rotation for this weekend now? Push everyone back, and wreck the Smotlz/Santana matchup? Skip Glavine (for some reason)? I have to think the first option is what is going to happen, but it's too bad we don't get to see them match up now.

Oh well, maybe later in the year.

by VegasAces on Apr 4, 2008 8:08 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Bobby....

.... is pushing the starters back a day. Hudson will pitch tomorrow's game and Glavine on Sunday. So, there will be no Smoltz-Santana matchup.

Figured as much

That's what I was assuming. Really, there's no good reason to skip Glavine, so it makes sense.

I know it's "only spring training," but is it time to be concerned about McLouth?
