I understand that Webb is a great pitcher and about 10 years younger than Smoltz. You all can call me crazy, but tonight, and so far this season, I take Smoltzy over Webb. If our offense would have scored some g-damn runs!! Happy 3000 K's!!

Yeah...
...Smoltz is from another planet. As Joe Morgan would say in MLB2K8 “the rumors of John Smolt’z demise are greatly exaggerated”.

Consider This.
John is on fire and not Brandon, nor anyone else, can touch him right now. But realize that Smoltz is averaging about 5.2 IP/GS while Webb is up at 7. That probably means you’re using one or two extra relievers (one would be a specialist) to close out John’s games. Over the course of a season, that’ll take it’s toll and it will cost your team wins. Also note that Smoltz has already spent time on the DL and Webb, a full 12 years younger, is healthy as can be. The point is simple: even when John pitches to his absolute best, an argument can be made for Webb even though he’s not at the top of his game and you certainly couldn’t say that the other way around.
