4/22 Minor League Update

Richmond - Off Day

@ Norfolk - I'm guessing Charlie Morton and his 1.69 ERA will be throwing.

Huntsville 6, Mississippi 7

  • J. Perry - 0-1 RBI, 2 BB, K
  • K. Kaaihue - 1-1 2B, 2 RBI, 2 BB
  • D. Hernandez - 2-2 2 RBI, BB
  • Carlos Sencion's starting debut at AA didn't go especially well, though he did K 5 in 3.2IP so I'm down with that. Jason Perry is still hitting .715 after three games which i find mighty impressive and the team is 2-1 since his arrival (in fact all of the M-Braves wins have come in two game win streaks). Kala Kaaihue has still not homered in 190 Mississippi ABs. That is baffling for a guy who hit 22 in 309 ABs at The Beach. I mean you just don't lose power like that. You would have to get lucky at some point and get one out.

    Lynchburg 2, Myrtle Beach 5

  • B. Hicks - 2-4 2 RBI, K
  • B. Powell - 2-4 HR(1), 2 RBI, K
  • T. Jones - 2-3 2 2B, BB, K
  • R. Reynoso - 6IP 5H 1R 0BB 4K
  • A little shake up in the lineup tonight to give some regulars a break. Travis Jones was dropped to 6th and he appears to like the switch. Gorkys got the night off which will hurt his hotlist status this week, sigh, he should have taken that into account. Reynoso strung together his second consecutive good start. I can't remember if he was on the watch list, but he is now.

    Rome 6, Columbus 1

  • J. Heyward - 2-4
  • C. Johnson - 1-4 2B, K
  • A. Coe - 2-4 2 RBI, K
  • E. Barrett - 5.2IP 3H 0R 2BB 7K
  • Eric Barrett is quietly putting together the best non-Hanson-Reyes start to the season. His ERA has dropped all the way down to 1.33 and he is striking out a man an inning. I guess he isn't really off the radar since he made BA's top 30 this year, but lets see what happens when he gets the bump to MB come draft time. I like Adam Coe and have since he was hitting last year in rookie ball and I hope he is finding his stroke again. He has some good power potential and has a chance to establish himself before Jon Gilmore crops onto the scene.
