The Smoltz 3000Ks Tribute Video
Yeah, I know - it sucked losing that game, and if any of you guys are anything like me, you'd trade in the 3,000th strikeout at home for a win any day of the week. Lannan pitched a hell of a game, and kept our boys off balance all day long. Zimmerman and Johnson also provided some luck and stellar defense on the corners which was a huge contributor to the offense unable to get anything going.
But let's get to what's important - Smoltzie's 3,000th Strikeout.
It was a thing of beauty. The crowd was really into the entire situation, and anytime he got into a 2-strike hole with any batter, the Ted actually sounded like it was closing time in the World Series. Nick Johnson, Austin Kearns, John Lannan, and Felipe Lopez for the monument, I wouldn't have guessed - but who really cares?
I don't know what you folks got on television, but those of who were at the park were treated to this little number:
I apologize for the blurs and whatnot, but my camera was acting funny throughout the entire night. I have a bunch of photos chronicling the entire evening, and despite the outcome of the game, let's not forget that it was most certainly once again John Smoltz Day, the one-and-only Strikeout King of Atlanta.
If you got to see it on television, that's awesome. If not, I hope y'all can salvage to enjoy.

thanks for posting!
Wish I’d been there to see it. This is the next best thing, if my eyes were constantly going in and out of focus. ;)
That smile...
...he flashed after strikeout 2000 made me laugh.
A special night, indeed.

The man..
...is amazing. It has been a truly special experience being able to follow his entire career. And they day they let him in the hall, I’ll be there to watch it.
there was nothing like being at the game.
I was in the stands for this event, and loved it.
I loved it so much, I made a web tribute to John and the accomplishment.
