4/13 Minor League Update
Richmond 6, Lehigh Valley 2
We have a very nice start here from Jojo Reyes and he likely has put himself in place to be the one called up if Glavine goes on the DL. He has yet to allow a run this season and has a 14/3 K/BB ratio. I'm not sure why he only pitched 4 innings unless they are conserving his pitches to get him stretched out a little better. Also Sammons has been tearing up the International league this week. Something must have clicked because he is walking more, hitting for more power and striking out less. Also Barbaro hit his second homer in as many games and gives us solid insurance if anything does happen to Tex.
Mobile 9, MIssissippi 2
There really isn't anything good to say about this team. Kala Kaaihue struck out three times and had two errors. Medlen is a lock to be a fixture in our bullpen, but other wise the only thing to look forward to here is when Tommy Hanson gets there.
Frederick 7, Myrtle Beach 3
Nothing really exciting to report here except that the only person hitting consistently is Gorkys Hernandez. Flowers OBP. is a 100 points higher than his SLG. at this point. Not good for a guy who is supposed to hit for lots of power. Full time catching might be taking its toll on him. I don't see him staying behind the plate. Also, Matt Wieters went 0-2 but walked 3 times. Is that a win for Pelicans?
Rome 4, Charleston 5
Concepcion Rodriguez seems to be responding to my endorsement a couple posts back. He is still only 21 so he could be considered a prospect, just one most people haven't heard of. This Charleston team is stacked with a lot of the top talent in the Yankees organization. Rome has one more game against them tomorrow to avoid the sweep.
Check back tomorrow for the new hotlist for week 2 of the minor league season.

Rome
Miles is actually Cole Miles, and Sime is Samuel Sime - just saying.
Rodriguez was to Rome last year what Andruw Jones was in Atlanta - some power, Rodriguez even made the all-star team, but he hit .220 most of the year and looked absolutely awful striking out - I always dreaded seeing him come up with runners on or the game on the line (same way I felt about Andruw). I've only seen Rodriguez in person twice this year, and he looked about as bad as last year. Since I saw him, though, his numbers look pretty good, so we'll see. I'll be in Columbus to see Rome this Wednesday, and I'll be in Rome on Saturday for a game featuring minor league clown Myron Noodleman. I used to get very aggravated at stuff like Noodleman and Birdzerk, and all those distractions, but I'm telling you - Noodleman is funny! He gets at least 2 members of the team to get into a mock fight with him that ends in a crazy dance - good stuff! And the coaches get into a sign stealing thing with him to the tune of "Dueling Banjos" from 'Deliverance.'
And this ends my commercial for Myron Noodleman. I should get some good pictures from Rome if the sun is out....
Fixed
I'm going to be at the Augusta games when they come around (soon i think) and I will definitely be shooting for some good pics of some of the top guys. Maybe I'll get lucky and get a Jeff Locke start.
Yeah....
......I got him (Locke), but the day was cloudy, so I'm looking for another start. I'm thinking (and hoping) that Eric Barrett will be starting Wednesday in Columbus. I got Evarts last Sunday.
Richmond at Rochester
I'll be at the game Wednesday night in Rochester, NY, and I'll post a little first-hand recap for anyone who is interested. I can't find any info on probable pitchers though. Anyone have an idea?
heyward
i saw him play in charleston tonight. he has a rocket arm...almost threw runners out at home on consecutive plays (catcher dropped the first).
