What a Game!

Last night was one of the craziest, most nerve racking games I’ve even been to (and yes, I was one of those who stayed until the very end). McCann’s hit which tied it up in the ninth was unbelievable -- just unbelievable. If every game goes the way these first two have gone this is going to be the season of Tums.

Anyway, I’m slammed at work today, so there probably won’t be any posting until tonight. I just posted the Spiezio announcement -- seems like a weak move.

Two games...

...in which we've gotten some pretty insane breaks to tie the game, and still managed to lose. I agree with you about the season starting out like this...I told my roomate last night after McLouth's bomb "it's too early in the season to start breaking shit."

Really hope we win the next two...

My NAHWAL picks for tonight, if I may....

I'll be in Rome tonight, so I won't be able to post my picks....

Mine:
1. 33,249
2. Francoeur
3. The game-winning RBI for the Braves comes in the 1st inning

Mr. Hustle!

I was hoping that someone would comment on this but unfortunately I did not see it, obviously last nights game was tough to watch especially since we came up short. But I noticed something that I cannot hold in any longer. In the 9th inning, with 2 outs, BMac got under one and blooped a sure out to shallow right-center field, I know in youth baseball we are taught to run everything out, its part of playing the game the right way. But this was different, the second camera angle they showed, you see Chipper hawling tail around second and third and heading to the plate, it was a close play at home and if not for his hustle on the base paths we would not have tied that game. I just thought it was cool to see a guy, who makes millions, who is possibly a Hall of Famer, in the second game of a very long season, really busting tail to try and help his team win, Chipper knew their was a 99% chance that he is running for nothing and the game would soon be over. I just thought it was very refreshing and I believe that winners like that are the reason we won 14 straight and will continue to have success. My hat is off to you Mr. Jones, way to set an great example for the young kids at home watching and the young men on the bench looking at you to lead the team. Well done sir, well done!

yes

I agree completely. Awesome to see him hustling like that, something that doesn't happen very often.

Then again, we are used to seeing Chipper play his heart out for the past 14 years, so it wasn't all that surprising!

Ugly, ugly game.

Exciting yes, but there was a lot more bad than good. Here's to hoping we get these early season kinks worked out sooner rather than later.

I was there 'til the end too. Too bad for all those folks who left early... too bad for all of us who stayed late. This dude sitting in front of me was a Pirates fan. His buddy made him leave after the 8th because he was afraid for his life.
