Spiezio?
MLBTR quotes DOB saying the Braves have signed Spiezio to a minor league deal. Is this the bench bat Wren has been looking for, once he plays himself into shape? I'd like to think he has a chance to be a good asset off the bench, but overcoming the types of problems he has is never easy.
Baseball thoughts aside, I hope he can get his life back in order. Obviously, someone in the Braves' organization thinks he can.

hopeful
Hopefully he has his life in order and can get back to baseball. I agree, he could be very helpful.
Hope he dyes his goatee a different shade of red though.

don't know
I just don't think this guy will get his life together. The only real asset he brings is a true backup at first.

I like it.
If he has his stuff together. Then he'd offer a true bench bat. On a related note, the Phils are getting ready to release Wes Helms. Anyone see a comeback to ATL?

Helms
Helms as a bench bat would be ideal. Certainly would make more sense than having Pena or Gotay be our main pinch hitter/3B sub. PECOTA says .275/.335/.458 if given ~200 PAs. That's pretty nice off the bench, even if he plays defense like his arms are tied together.
