Open Thread and NAHWAL: Pirates at Braves (3/31)

Pittsburgh Pirates at Atlanta Braves, Mar 31, 2008 7:10 PM EDT

Well last night’s game kind of blew. We seemed real flat and maybe a little lost, or maybe we were a bit too distracted by the new Nats stadium and all that fanfare as well as our new alternate road uniforms (they’re distractingly dull). Maybe this team just needed a good slap in the face to realize that the real season has actually begun.

I’ll be sporting my 755 shirt tonight at the old ballpark, though it will probably be covered up by a jacket or two as it is supposed to be in the mid-50s and a little chilly. I’m guessing that Tom Glavine will get a pretty solid ovation without too many boos, but we’ll see, there are some crazy fans out there.

by BlauserToLemkeToBream on Mar 31, 2008 10:08 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

well

i think it expedites the necessary return for CHUCK AND SMOLTZ so jurrjens can help shore up the bullpen.

by bigjoe on Mar 31, 2008 10:20 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

If anything..

...James needs to be in the pen. Jurrjens hasn't even started a regular season game and you want to put him in the bullpen.

although tonight's game sucked

I actually think our bullpen is going to be decent this season, with Soriano, Moylan, Ring, and tonight's hero, Acosta.

Jurrjens is more valuable to us in the rotation.

More bullpen bullshit. Matt Suck-az and Jeff Suck-coeur also helped this losing effort. Tex is also on notice for sucking. Way to burn Jurjenns in a losing effort.
