Braves interested in Maholm, Snell

This from the Beaver* County Times:

Atlanta has interest in a couple of Pirates starting pitchers, left-hander Paul Maholm and right-hander Ian Snell, but won’t give up top pitching prospect Tommy Hanson in a trade. Washington also has interest in Snell.

I like Snell, and Maholm's not bad. I'd imagine we'd have to give up a decent amount, though.

*In other news, could there be a worse name for a county?

they supposedly want MLB READY PITCHING. my offer? anthony lerew, chuck james, jojo reyes, and JUST FOR THE HELL OF IT, blaine boyer. sounds good to me.

I probably care about sports way too much. Like, waaaaaaaaay too much.

funny

Last year would’ve been Snell > Maholm

And just for good measure, you should throw our good Buddy into the pot as well. You know, sweeten the deal.

What are the pirates thinking?

First they ask for the moon for Jack Wilson, I mean c’mon – Jack Wilson. Now they want a top notch major league ready pitching prospect for one of their pitchers that never panned out. I hate to knock their new front office, but this is the kind of crap their old front office pulled that put them in their current position in the first place.

There are a few teams that always seem to want to get over on the other team, like they have no interest in making a trade if it isn’t a definite win for them. Seems like a terrible way to do bussiness, the ideal trade is one that is a win for both sides. The Pirates are certainly one of them and the Rays seem to be another; every time those two are mentioned it’s like they’re asking the world for guys that just aren’t worth it.

ha

i don’t live far from butts county, and i have family in the city of cumming. apparently our early city planners were quite the comedians.

That reminds me of a high school in Idaho that’s called Butte County HS. Their mascot: the pirate.

Yes, they’re the Butte Pirates. Apparently, that wasn’t a popular phrase back in the 70s when the school formed…(any doubters can look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butte_County_High_School)

hahaha… that is great. just great.

It's pronounced "b-yoot"

You’re bad. It’s either that, or hanging out around too many guys on the net has been a bad influence.

by buzzdeadwax on Dec 9, 2008 6:38 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I know, but if you’re a lineman on another HS team talking trash before the snap, would you really pronounce it correctly?

Also, you guys on here are nothing compared to what I hear on XBOX live. If I had no contact with the outside world, I’d think everyone was homophobic, misogynistic, and racist.

I'll be honest

I laughed out loud at Butte Pirates and I’m not even in middle school (or high school)

Wow

< begin sarcasm >

So I hear the Pittsburgh Pirates outsourced their relief pitching to India. I wonder how many days into the regular season it will take before the rest of the faggots in the Pirates locker room complain about the stink of curry and the bullpen grass getting too long.

< / end sarcasm >

Comparisons to XBOX live people? Ouch. There’s a reason I keep my mic turned off when playing Street Fighter HD Remix or Left 4 Dead online with people I don’t know.

No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

no no, the comparison was a good one! Meaning the guys on here aren’t even close to as bad.

And I only turn plug my mic in when I’m playing with friends. The comments get even worse when you’re the only girl playing, trust me.

*uhh, “turn plug” being a new phrase I’m trying to make popular. Yeah…

nice

cumming is a pretty cool place, as is most of forsyth county. right between the city and the mountains. not at all like the climactic scene of ghostbusters one might expect it to be.

lol

I remember the billboard on 400 for the new BJs in Cumming a few years ago. I think I saw pictures of it in no less than three magazines and about eleventy-billion websites.

The Post Gazette is now saying that the Braves inquired about Maholm and Nate McLouth. McLouth is decent, but would cost a shit-ton. I don’t think anything’s going to happen here.

he’s also the worst fielder at any position if you use the dewan system

And .252/.322/.401 career vs lefties
.261/.322/.388 last year

by VictorW on Dec 9, 2008 6:18 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, that’s not pretty. That’s a lot worse than I thought it was. I just selectively remembered his first half, I guess.

but he won a gold glove..so hes got to be good

Ian Snell???

What would we give up? Ian Snell’s got talent but I was beat down for suggesting Edwin Jackson my first day on this blog and Ian’s no better depending on how you look at it.

Career Snell Whip1.52/ No Shutouts/101 starts/76 HR/ 612 innings/ DOB 1981

Career Jackson Whip 1.63/1 shutout/77 starts/55HR/456 innings/DOB 1983

Plus Jackson’s stats were better this year. Just saying. I got beat the fuck down for mentioning a pitcher of this caliber.

I read that the pirates want MLB ready pitchers.

Do you think we could pull a trade for those two with Chuck James, Jo Blow Reyes, Pharr, Brandon Jones, and another filler? If not what do you think it would take?

by Charmin519 on Dec 9, 2008 6:49 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Not interested in Paul HAHOMO or Ian SMELL!!! lolz
