Does Maddux deserve to be in the HOF?
Now that I have your attention, let's talk Johnson. Randy Johnson.
Remember in the postseason when he pitched relief for Seattle a day after he started and struck out like six in a row? Remember when he killed that bird in spring training? He was 20-4 with a 2.28 ERA one year, and I have every reason to expect he will repeat--or exceed--that performance in '09. And he is a sex symbol for all the ladies. Get it done, Wren.

I guess I should be one to talk.
There's nights that I can't even walk.
There's days I couldn't give a fuck.
And in between is where I'm stuck.

You have to admit
That was pretty clever.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
Is this post serious?
I mean the RJ part. Do you want him in the bullpen, or in the rotation?
I wouldn’t sign him, because when you have no knees and no back, eventually you won’t be able to pitch anymore.
Haha, you’re killing me…

First he is going to cost ten million. Second he is only going to win 2 games before he needs back surgery and tommy john surgery at the same time. So two games at five million per for old sack of balls Randy Johnson u have got to be kidding sir!!!!!!!!!
I think he wants $8M
I wonder if he’d take $4-5 M with incentives to bring it to $8-10 M. That would be a steal.
Boy was I fired up
over the title, now thirty seconds later I feel like I’ve been cheated out of a twenty spot.
$1000 bucks says Randy Johnson gives his new team more value (dollars per win) over the course of his deal than does AJ Burnett over the course of his. any takers?
i 1000% agree
Randy Johnson is going to be a steal for whoever gets him. I cannot believe how little attention he is getting
+1 to both of you
Randy Johnson seems like he’d be a great fit in Atlanta, but I guess the team is a little scared of 40 year old Hall of Famers. He is risky, but so is freaking Burnett. And you only have to risk 1 year on Johnson, not 4-5.
Here’s a 2010 Free Agent List
Obviously a lot of those guys will have their options exercised. Webb, Beckett, for example. Some of those guys may get locked up too like Lackey and Myers. Others are injury risks like Bedard and Harden. So I have no idea if that’s a good free agent class or not. Do the Braves need to lock up someone for a few years or can Johnson for 1 year bridge the gap?
there will be other pitchers come available on the trade market as well in the near future. i think burnett is a very good pitcher 65% of the time but i dont for a second believe we are REAL contenders. and i hate to see the team in situations like they have in the past few years where we lose our good young players to free agency because we cant afford them and cant even get compensatory draft picks because we cant risk them accepting arbitration and pushing us over our payroll limit. If we are going to pay top dollar, we should get top quality players. this team would have been better off giving Teixeira 8 years, 160M than giving Burnett 5 years, 75M. Hopefully we make a real run at Greinke or someone of the like to give us a young, improving ace that should still be dominant in 2011 when Heyward, Hanson, Schafer, Freeman, Rohrbough, etc are at a point when the should realistically be able to contribute at the ML level
