Smoltz could draw free agent interest

Ken Rosenbot claims that if the Braves don't offer John a contract he could land a nice 1-year deal from any of the usual suspects, plus Detroit.

It sure would be strange seeing Smoltz in another team's uniform. I think Wren is smart enough to give John what he deserves and keeps him without any questions. It would suprise me if John did actually go anywhere else for just one year before hanging it up.

Smoltz is not going anywhere. Smoltz unlike a lot of players is loyal to the braves and he is not about money. As a brave fun I dont even have to worry about this one.

you guys are correct, but a big dollar “last time buy” might be very enticing to him if it comes from the right team. I’m not as sold that he “is Atlanta” as you seem to be. NY money convinced CC that he doesn’t like the left coast as much as he said!
