A.J. Burnett seems more interested in pitching in New York than CC Sabathia, the Yankees' other top free-agent target. While Sabathia sits on the Yankees' offer of the richest-ever pitching contract and reportedly met with GM Brian Cashman, Burnett has reached out to former Yankee Carl Pavano, who did not steer him away from the Yankees. Pavano, who did not enjoy his New York experience, told Burnett "he has the stuff to pitch there," according to a major-league source.

Because...
..y’know, New York is like, so close to Baltimore, as opposed to, y’know, Baltimore.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

Probably not...
as getting him looks like it means a five year deal. I wouldn’t give him more than three plus a club option.

There is no other team in baseball I hate more than the Yankees. Buy your whole team, drive up the market for everyone else, and fire the one manager you had with a little bit of class for a piece of garbage like Joe Girardi. I hope they wind up 10 games out by the all-star break

Please explain how the Yankees "buy" players and other teams don't
because last I checked, nobody’s playing for free.

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear
They don’t seem to put much emphasis on building teams from their farm systems and just throw money at free agents to put together an all-star team (hence the highest payroll in baseball). My point is, just because you have the biggest names and contracts doesn’t mean that they can play as a team

haha…
I guess I should be one to talk.
There's nights that I can't even walk.
There's days I couldn't give a fuck.
And in between is where I'm stuck.

Um....
Why does everyone act as though many of the key pieces in their world series runs came from somewhere other than the farm? Jeter, Bernie Williams, Jorge Posada, Andy Pettite, and Mariano Rivera were all drafted and developed by the Yankees. Orlando Herandez and Hideki Irabu, while not as integral to their successes, were first Major Leaugers as Yankees.
I think all of this hype they get for the big money comes from guys they overpaid for, guys like Giambi, Pavano, etc.

Not many people give them stick for what they did during their run. Its only now, after the WS appearances have dried up, that the Yankees have decided to forgo the farm in favor of buying free agents.

It’s not so much of him sticking up for the Yankees as it is the fact that’s he’s entirely true. Nobody plays for free.

I still think we need to sign Burnett just because there aren’t a lot of other options out there.

Isn't it funny....
Burnett thinks that he would last in NY. Ha, no way. The guy hates pressure, NY is ALL pressure. If the Yankees spend more money than the Braves and get Burnett, good luck to both of them as they will be equally unhappy.
Not a huge loss for the Braves anyway. Burnett only plays during contract years.

my point is the Braves need another starting pitcher and I personally don’t think this is as good of free agent pitcher class then people think. There aren’t to many good ones available for trade either.
