Braves will get Peavy.

Mlbtraderumors.com is reporting that the Kahlil Greene trade to the cardinals is finalized. The Padres exec. and Kevin Towers main focus now is to acquire a replacement SS, and it will most likely happen via trade. Who has the upper hand now. i have always admired the Braves Patience and diligence. They didn't jump and trade away the farm system, but instead they waited for the padres to basically twist themselves into a bind. We can almost do a straight trade Escobar for Peavy naw j/k life is not that sweet but the package will be way less then what it was a month ago.

How ya feel

My Thoughts.

Trading Greene seperately may allow the Padres to keep Peavy. If they do deal him now, nothing has really changed. The Cubs appear to be the only ones interested in making something work now and they were already looking to bring a third team anyway, so they’re still likely the favorites to land Jake. They can either include Ronny Cedeno if he’s to the Padres liking (it wouldn’t be hard to replace Khalil’s production) or they can look for some team out there with a young, cheap SS to spare and an interest in their other prospects. I wouldn’t mind trading Yunel, Morton/Reyes and perhaps a pair of pitching prospects to San Diego for their ace, so long as we can sign Furcal for nothing more than 3/$39M. Then we’d have a solid chunk of change to address our LF void via free agency and plenty left over to resign Smoltz, Glavine, Ohman and any other vet needed to fill out our roster. Just my two cents…

The Braves will never get Jake Peavy without offering a truly top tier prospect (Hanson/Heyward) and waiving their policy to refuse no-trade clauses.

Peavy

Trading away Lillibridge means that it is now harder for Wren to go after Peavy, because Yunnel will be the Braves’ SS. I doubt that the Braves want either Diory Hernandez or Infante as their SS and Brandon Hicks is nowhere near ready. If Wren goes after Peavy, then it will have to be with a very different package….

The math just doesn't work

‘We’ just acquired $13 mil (J. Vazquez + D. Ross); adding Peavy is an additional ~$16 mil, and adding a legitimate SS is $8-$12 mil. Best-case scenario has $37 mil spent, and you still have an OF of B. Jones/Diaz/Anderson/Blanco/Francoeur. That also doesn’t account raises for current players. I just don’t think this move would work.

Logical thinking FTW. Not enough people actually take into consideration the financial ramifications of their rosterbation.

I guess I should be one to talk.

There's days I couldn't give a fuck.
And in between is where I'm stuck.

I’ll call your “not enough” and raise you a “most!”.

That's why Yankees rosterbation is so fun

You can just do whatever the hell you want!

Paying Peavy an average of $15M a year and Furcal at $10M+ is a year is so much worse than Burnett at $15-16M a year and Yunel at pennies. I bet if Jose Reyes or Jimmy Rollins was the Braves SS, no one would want to package them for Peavy. Except Yunel is more valuable than either one of those shortstops because he’s cheaper and for more years.

Haha, if you said that Yunel was “more valuable” than Rollins or Reyes around their respective fans they would shit a brick. Ignorance is bliss, I suppose.

Please, you act like you wouldn’t trade Martin Prado for Brandon Webb straight up in MLB 2K9.

No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

After that Smoltz for Webb debacle, I don’t ever want to get into another trade speculation involving Webb.

Hahaha

No joke. John Smoltz will come out of the bullpen in Arizona next season, and get this huge rain of boos, and have absolutely no clue to why, because of us you.

you clearly have never been to the park formerly known as the BOB. everyone is so in their own little world, they don’t know what the hell would be going on. the word CLAP will pop up on the jumbotron, and they’ll all clap. even if eric byrnes just stared at a belt high fastball because he was trying to muster up the strength to get a good swing going.

Following the Braves...one long hard drink at a time.
