Wells or BJ Ryan
Apparently according to MLBTR the Blue Jays might be fielding offers for one or even both of these guys. I say we go full blown after them this could be a perfect fit for us Wells would be a great LF option with great power and run producing capabilities. Ryan is just a beast and would allow Gonzo to be a set up. I think Wren should go all out and I don't mean all of our prospects. The Blue Jays will most likely only want a couple of projectable prospects because they are looking to dump $. I am thinking maybe a Gorkys, Locke, Jo Jo or C Mo, then another position player or international signing from this year. I think Wells could be had and the Braves need him.

Neither
Have you seen Well’s contract? There is now way the Braves take on this contract unless Toronto eats at least half of it. And Ryan is a very expensive option compared to the the cheaper in house options we have. No thanks.

I'd rather...
Trade a simliar group of prospects for Jermaine Dye, who only has two years, $23.5MM left on his contract, as opposed to Vernon Wells who has at least three years and $55MM left on his.
Wells’ contract is ridiculous. It’s his contract’s fault that drove up the cost of Andruw Jones, and much like Jones, Wells’ production has faltered a little bit, due to a bad season and one injury-riddled season.
Even if he were able to bounce back and produce, his contract is financially irresponsible. So far, he’s been paid around $12 million . . . out of the $126 million is he due in the remaining five years. Not to mention the opt-out after four years, and the all-hideous no-trade clause he has.
As for Ryan, we’ve got our own hard-throwing lefty closer who’s recovering from injury. Who’s younger, and won’t cost the Braves $12 million a year for the next two years.
Bottom line – no.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
Wells is awful.
I guess I should be one to talk.

There's days I couldn't give a fuck.
And in between is where I'm stuck.

I believe he meant: Soriano, Gonzo, Moylan and Smoltz and of course there is always the great Eric O’Flaherty
I don’t think Moylan counts as a valuable closer, Soriano is a little bitch and is always hurt with “arm soreness”, and Smoltz is unsigned and Frank Wren is probably gonna be a dumbass and let him sign somewhere else. So we have 1 injury prone closer.
Closer is an overrated position to begin with, and Moylan was pretty damn good when he was healthy.

fyi he had a bone spur that was rubbing against the nerve in his shoulder so essentially he was pitchin with a pinched nerve in his shoulder.. u ever get a crink in r neck he had that except in his arm which is supposed to throw a baseball 90 mph… its not his fault no one diagnosed him properly…stop being an idiot

You know out of all the outfielders, Wells wouldn’t be that bad. He’s proven and we could probably get him for 2 players. He’d be a good fit for us. I’d rather have 3 years of him than not knowing what we’re getting and I think he’d be one of the names that could make us contend. You guys say you want some big names and then bring up the money but were all mad about not signing A.J. Burnett and Rafael Furcal.
I’d rather have Wells than Burnett and Furcal. For a down year, Wells hit 300 with 20 homers, 343 obp, 496 slg. Still had over 400 at bats last year. He’s a career 283 hitter and has over 500 at bats in his other 6 seasons. I don’t think he’d be like Andruw because he can hit for a good average. By the time the 4th year comes, our prospects should be ready to take over. We need something. In Toronto he was counted on to be the big hitter, maybe being between Chipper & McCann will let him relax. Not a bad option at all.
