The Untouchables

Since the whole Furcal thing didn't happen, FW is pissed.  He is not dealing with any of the Kinzer/Tellum clients:

Aaron Boone, Alex Escobar, Alexis Rios, Aramis Ramirez, Brandon Morrow, Brenden Ryan, Carlos Lee, Carmen Cali, Chase Utley, Craig Monroe, Delmon Young, DJ Houlton, Dmitri Young, Edinson Volquez, Edwin Encarnacion, Esteban German, Eugenio Velez, Francisco Rodriguez, Francisco Rosario, Frank Thomas, Garrett Olsen, Geoff Bloom, Geovany Soto, Greg Aquino, Guillermo Mota, Hanley Ramirez, Hector Carrasco, Hideki Matsui, Jason Giambi, Jason Hirsh, Jason Kendall, Jason Kubel, Jason Michaels, Joel Pineiro, John Grabow, Jose Guillen, Josh Towers, Juan Miranda, Kazuo Matsui, Kei Igawa, Kory Casto, Lou Marson, Matt Treanor, Matthew Capps, Max Ramirez, Michael Rivera, Mike Lieberthal, Mike Mussina, Nomar Garciaparra, Omar Vizquel, Peter Moylan, Rafael Furcal, Ramon Ramirez, Randy Wolf, Reed Johnson, Rick VandenHurk, Roman Colon, Ryan Tucker, Sammy Sosa, Shawn Hill, Tony Blanco, Tyler Lumsden, Vicente Padilla, Wilson Betemit, Wily Mo Pena

This is quite an extensive list.  I don't know what this means for Peter Moylan, but I bolded the names we have been connected to (no matter how informally), and are likely not interested in now.  There may be more we have been connected to, but I do not know of them.  No matter what there are a lot of good players on this list.

Untouchable is probably the wrong word. We could engineer trades for those players without ever dealing with their agents. Preumsably Moylan will remain on the roster, for example – the Braves just won’t negotiate with him when he becomes a FA (unless he has other representation by that time).

ehh

It’s the name of a movie, so I was playing off that more than anything. This is just a list for reference purposes.

Nice work. I had seen Moylan’s name mentioned earlier. No one we can’t live without.

its ok…like i said in another thread, moylan is just going to get overworked to the point that when he becomes FA eligible, he’s going to be worthless to us anyway

Yeah no one on there is someone we can’t live without. Still I think it was the wrong move for Wren to say that he will never deal with any of their clients Ever.

why? we don’t even know if theyve apoligized or anything. Fuck em

by SayHeyWerd on Dec 18, 2008 6:35 PM EST up reply actions

Fuck those guys

There are ton’s of agents out there and only so many baseball teams. We just publicly denounced them.
It hurts there image with current and future client signings. To be honest there lucky that the braves were only interested in one of their clients.

Ah, Vanden Hurk, The Dutch Hammer. Love that guy. Saw a movie in Dutch last night and it made me think of that goofy bastard.

I doubt they’ll actually not ever speak with them again…especially since some current Braves are on that list.

It’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out, though. Hopefully we’ll see some players changing agents soon.

FW is scaring me

I am a fan of Frank Wren and I have quite a bit of trust in him but lately he has made me and I would assume many other Braves fans uneasy. I know that Kevin Towers was asking too much for Peavy and Furcal’s agency was misleading to Wren, but do you ever worry that Wren cares a bit too much about his image and not enough about the Braves future?

You can't be serious

Towers is asking too much and Furcal’s agents were misleading, but that somehow leads to Wren caring too much about his image?

The fact that JS went to the press and brought the friggin’ hammer down shows it’s not just Wren. They screwed the FO and no one is happy.

I'm also hearing Yunel is a WSG client

But he should definitely change, because if this is true they don’t even bother listing him on their site.

List isn't as bad as one thinks

Check out these names:

Frank Thomas, Jason Giambi, Jason Kendall, Mike Lieberthal, Mike Mussina, Nomar Garciaparra, Omar Vizquel,Sammy Sosa(!)

All are either gone from ball or on their last contract. There are only (by my count)11 players on that list that if the Braves should ever ever consider signing. And a few of those are catchers.
