Willy Taveras
The answer to the Braves lead off problems is Willy Taveras. He was a non-tendered free agent and would be the perfect fit for the Braves. Everybody knows that the Braves need a lead off man and Willy Taveras would be the answer. Then we have got to find some more starting pitchers. Last, we need a right handed power hitter. We were also ripped off when we lost Rafael Furcal!!!!! Who's out there with me?

Nobody. Nobody is out there with you if you’re saying Willy Taveras is the answer to anything.

My reaction was isn’t Willy Taveras a pitcher? Then I remembered I was thinking of Julian Tavares.
I wouldn’t want someone named “Willy” to be on the team.
It’s a slow work day.

Leadoff hitters should get on base a lot.
Taveras doesn’t.

Furthermore
Taveras’s specialty is base-stealing. Something the Braves just don’t really do.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

You people say Blanco is the answer?!?!?! He ended up batting .251 with 13 stolen bases. That is not what we should have as a leadoff hitter.

I agree. Blanco’s not the answer either. (Nor is Josh Anderson, FWIW.)

How in the world is Taveras the answer when Blanco, who you don't like, is a much more useful player.
.366 OBP. I can’t believe Taveras is that awful at hitting because his home park is freaking Coors.

Taveras?
Why spend money on a older and powerless version of Josh Anderson? Anderson will succeed if he is given an every day job.

Anderson?
When you say Anderson will succeed in an everyday job, do you mean it like he will be more successful than Willy Taveras, or that he will be an above average CFer?

I don’t know how nick9314 meant it, but I would say, yes, if given the chance to play every day, Anderson would be better than Taveras, and while he might not be an above average centerfielder, he would be a good, serviceable major leaguer.
I really like Josh. He’s very passionate about the game and he has a ton of upside. The guy is a great outfielder, so there’s no worry about his defense and he’s ridiculously fast. He doesn’t walk much at all and really, that’s a killer for a speed guy, but he puts the ball in play and personally I think for fast guys that’s the most important thing. You can create a lot of situations if you’re willing to hit the ball and run. It’s not a method I’d recommend for somebody without world class speed, but if you’ve got it, use it.
Anderson isn’t any kind of long term answer in centerfield, that’s Jordan Schafer, but he would be a decent answer for a little while; certainly better than Taveras and at a fraction of the cost.

Oh yes, how could I forget the desperation of a man convicted of a DUI, who had a unique clause that stated that he was a free man until the playoffs were over, unless the Braves won it all. And then Furcal helped the Braves stave off elimination with his walk-off homer against the Astros, and the series-winning suicide steal in Game 5. His heroics led Furcal to win the NLDS MVP award, btw.
And then against the Cardinals, Furcal batted .566 with 8 doubles, 3 homers, and a record setting 15 SB, and 43 runs scored, as even Albert Pujols couldn’t stop the fright-train known as Fookie. We swept the Cardinals and Furcal won the NLCS MVP award, btw.
And then in the World Series against the Red Sox who had powered past a 3-0 deficit to be the first team in baseball to overcome the 3-0, the Braves won in five epic games, led by who else? Rafael Furcal. He hit .443 with two homers, and 6 doubles, as well as 10 more swiped bags. And in heroic fashion, Bobby Cox made an unorthodox maneuver in Game 5, by making a wager with the Fulton County District Courts, saying that Furcal couldn’t cap off his miraculous post-season heroics with his own arm, and hearing myths about Fookie’s arm, dared Cox to pitch the top of the 9th inning, in exchange for absolving of the DUI charges. Not only did Furcal strike out the side against Manny Ramirez, David Ortiz and Trot Nixon, he did in nine pitches.
Naturally Furcal won the World Series MVP. With freedom from jail, and free agency, the Dodgers offered him a billion dollars for three years. Ted Turner just couldn’t not match that.
What, the rest of you guys don’t remember when the Braves won the playoffs with Furcal at the top of the order, either?

Nightman
night man, sneaky and mean
?something? inside my dreams
i think i love you
you make me wanna cry, you make me wanna die
i love you i love you i love you i love you i love you night man
every night you come into my room and pin me down with your strong arms you pin me down and i try to fight you you come inside me you fill me up and i become the night man
ust two men sharing the night
It might seem wrong but it’s just right
It’s just two men sharing each other
It’s just two men like loving brothers
One on top, and one on bottom
One inside, and one is out
One is screaming he’s so happy
The other’s screaming a passionate shout
It’s the Night Man
The feeling so wrong it’s right man
the feeling so wrong…
I can’t fight you man when you come inside me and pin me down your strong hands and I’ll become the Night….the passionate, passionate Night Man.
They took you Night Man
and you don’t belong to them
They left me in a world of darkness
without your sexy hands
and I miss you Night Man
so bad.
