Since were all bummed about the lack of anything positive I thought I would throw a what if scenario out there. I know where talking the Japanese Senior Citizen, Reds trade, Royals trade, Wolf, Peavy???,etc...... but here is a new rumor you might actually want to play out.
I just ran across this article on ESPN.com. It's going threw the possibility of the Yankees pursuing Manny if Teixeira gets to pricey. With Giambi and Abreu gone they need a power bat to go with A-Rod. In the article, it states, that Nady is arbitration eligible next year and is a FA after 2009. They would clear his payroll now and bring the Manny in. Depending on how expensive their third pitcher option becomes this is a possibility.
I can't link this article because it's insider subscription type deal with Espn. I do it for Fantasy. Below is part of the article:
If they pass on Teixeira, the Yankees will try and bolster a sagging lineup with Ramirez, the Times newspaper reported. And to clear some money, they might entertain offers for outfielder Xavier Nady, who made $3.35 million last year, is arbitration eligible and a free agent after the 2009 season.
We would have to give up prospects for this deal. We have nothing the Yankees are looking for unless Kelly Johnson looks less expensive and worth getting rid of Cano. Does anyone like Nady & Cano for KJ and a prospect. Bad side, we pick up 6 million in contracts for 09" and Nady is FA eligible next year.
Should the braves make a second go at Nady? What are you willing to give up?
