Looking Beyond the '09 season

It will be intresting to see who the Braves will eventually get as their frontline starter this year, but I was curious to see who would be on the market next year if we again have some money to play with.

Brandon Backe HOU
Miguel Batista SEA
Josh Beckett * BOS
Erik Bedard SEA
Chris Capuano MIL
Jose Contreras CWS
Doug Davis ARZ
Justin Duchscherer OAK
Adam Eaton * PHI
Kelvim Escobar LAA
Rich Harden CHC
Tim Hudson * ATL
John Lackey LAA
Cliff Lee * CLE
Jason Marquis CHC
Mark Mulder STL
Brett Myers PHI
Vicente Padilla * TEX
Brad Penny LAD
Joel Pineiro STL
Jason Schmidt LAD
John Smoltz ATL
Claudio Vargas NYM
Jarrod Washburn SEA
Brandon Webb * ARZ
Todd Wellemeyer STL

Some good names there, some real mediocre ones as well. Webb, Lackey and Escobar jump out at me. If our choices for a starter are limited, maybe we could sock away some cash for the likes of these fellows.......

Webb, Lee, and Beckett will get their options picked up. Escobar is interesting if his shoulder is still functional. Same with Bedard. Duchscherer would be pretty good if he’s healthy too. Myers are Lackey are the two best if they don’t resign.

there is nothing wrong with just chilling out with your money and waiting next year. The team for the most part is still young but you hate to waste a year of Bobby and Chipper. Anywho Hanson, Heyward, Schafer will be here soon to rule the NL

LOL at “wasting a year of bobby”. more like “getting another year out of his system”

Bobby is senile at this point. He has no idea what’s going on. Hopefully another terrible year will convince Bobby to hang them up.

bobby cox manages games like he’s looking for his slippers after he gets home from a long day at the ballpark

I’d agree with wasting Chipper if he played a full year for us. Unfortunately, we’re hopeful he plays in 120 games.

thos 120 games are better than anyone elses 120 games tho and better than most poeple’s 150 games
