Peavy and Escobar

Peavy and his agent are apparently leaning toward blocking a trade if the Braves offer Escobar.

Does this help or hurt the braves chances of getting Peavy?

Kinda sounds like

Peavy feels that Escobar is essential to his success in Atlanta if he were to come to the Braves, and not necessarily just being a picky eater. If I were a major-league pitcher, I’d sure feel better about having a guy like Escobar patrolling short behind me too.

No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

But...

if I were a confident (not cocky) ace, I’d think I could make up for any degradation at SS or any other position. Does Peavy lack confidence in being that ace? Or, is he smart (or dumb) enough to know that one guy doesn’t make a team??? With the Braves history, why would he not think that FW has considered what the loss of Yunel would be and has a contingency plan? There’s not much available at SS, but other trades are possible (more like probable).

Well if I was a groundball pitcher..

…like Peavy, I’d wan the second best defensive shortstop in the majors behind me, that’s for sure.

WAS THINKING OUT LOUT--- ENCOURAGE RESPONSES

If I were Frank Wren I would try and make the following moves to keep us in playoff contention for this year, and at the same time allow Hanson/Schaffer/Freeman/Heyward to develop, and inevitably be promoted to the majors within the next few years:

1. Trade: Yunel Escobar (hard to believe we have to lose him but worth it), Jo-Jo/Morton, & Chris Lock, Gorkys Hernandez FOR Jake Peavey

2. Sign: Derek Lowe (his experience and veteran atittude will serve as a positive influence in the club house, and as a solid 2 or 3 starter)

3: Sign: Edgar Renteria (we can get him for real cheap and he would be a great replacement for Yunel)

4. Resign: Ohman and either of the “Big Three 3” (Smoltz/Glaving/Hampton)

5. Trade Kelly Johnson for Ryan Ludwick (he may not put up similar numbers but sure makes our team stronger while waiting for the younger players to develop)

This would make are team as follows:

Batting Line-Up Pitching Staff Relief
1. Anderson/Schaffer Jake Peavy Peter Moylan (hopeful for a positive return)
2. Renteria Jair Jurjens Will Ohman
3. Chip Derek Lowe

Chris Lock?

Haven’t heard of this guy yet, anyone got any bio info on him. Is this the PTBNL from the Langerhans trade four years ago? Where does he rate on our prospect list? He must be a serious sleeper prospect.

Continued

Battling Linue-Up Pitching Staff RP
4. McCann Glavine/Smoltz/Hampton Soriano
5. Ludwick Campillo/Hanson Gonzo
6. Kotch [Hudson insert number 2 spot upon return]
7. French
8. Prado

***If this were the case….. We would have positively replaced Yunel Escobar and KJ for similar players…. Added a power hitting outfield that can eat up time in an efficient manner (especially if French comes back) till Heyward/Schaffer are ready to rock….. Added an ace to our line-up, and a solid number two/three pitcher…. Sure up our bullpen
At the same time, we are always anxiously awaiting the return of Huddy to make our Starting Rotation: Peavy, Hudson, Lowe, Jair, and Hampton/Smoltz/Glavine

I believe this would cost between 40-45 million, and would keep us in definite play off contention, as well as allowing our younger/injured players time to develop for to make their inevitiable impact

PLEASE RESPOND TO THESE MOVES I HAVE PROPOSED…. NOT LOOKING FOR AN ARGUMENT IF YOU COMPLETELY DISAGREE WITH THEM, BUT INFORM WHAT YOU WOULD RATHER DO THEN THE ABOVE

You’re going to go blind with all that “rosterbating.”

wouldnt be easier to do
Batting Lineup
1-9
Starting Pitching
1-5
Relief Pitchers

why did you make it hard to read and put it on one line.

anyways, Peavy saying this might- probably not- but might allow us to keep Yunel

edgar renteria and martin prado are much, much, MUCH worse than kelly johnson and yunel escobar. like, by a lot. on both sides of the ball. the bottom of that lineup is a black hole of suck for OBP and SLG, which are, as you may or may not know, kind of important when it comes to scoring runs (and thus, winning ballgames). its been stated LIKE THIRTY TIMES (miss you lizzie) that if smoltz does come back, it will be in the bullpen.

Following the Braves...one long hard drink at a time.

(aw, damn, I think I might cry!) thanks.

If we don’t hurry up, the Hawks just might take Smoltzie:

Gotta get past some the intro and some talking, but it’s worth the laugh…

Why did you hyperlink the 3 in "Big Three 3"? Actually, why did you include the number and the spelling of the number?

KJ/Yunel is not similar to Prado/Edgar. I can’t read the rest because of the formatting.

I think ends up with the Dodgers or Red Sox. Don’t see us in the running for him plus the money required for him, Huddy, and Peavy is just too much to spend on the rotation.
