Peavy Deal Imminent?

Looks like a deal is going to go down soon, ladies ang gents.

The link above takes you to my blog entry on this.  The following link takes you directly to the article:

http://yankees.lhblogs.com/2008/11/06/yankees-not-in-the-mix-for-peavy/

And here is a link to a USA Today article about this

This is going to get really interesting.  Three team deal between the Braves, Cards and Pads could be in the works.  I don't know anything, I'm just speculating.  Ludwick, Kelly Johnson and Peavy could all windup being in the same deal.  Or there could be a sign and trade with Dempster in the works that would send Peavy to Chicago.

Liking to your blog....uncool.

A link to the actual article instead would be much more appreciated.

and that’s ‘linking’

sorry about that

I certainly didn’t mean to rub anyone the wrong way. I have added the link to the article above.

Why would the padres agree to a sign and trade involving Dempster. They are trying to cut payroll so they would take on dempster at the same salary as Peavy eventhough he is no where near as good.

good point

I didn’t think about the cash dump side of the Pads in this.

oh my fucking christ, stop with the definitive answers based on QUOTES. how do you get “imminent” about him being told he’ll be traded? it could not be for another month.

It’s my belief, based on what I have read and using my own idiotic brain, that Peavy will be traded before the free agent market has a chance to shake things up. I’m probably wrong, but I can handle that.

I’m a little curious though, you seem to take offense to me making a leap based on quotes from the GM of the team holding Peavy. Wouldn’t his quotes be the best thing to base assumptions on at this point? He is the only one who knows what is going on with all parties, is he not? Please explain why this bothers you, because my dumb ass might be missing something.

hey, look at that. just read an article today that said peavy will likely not be traded before the winter meetings. oops.

hey, look at that, I also read an article today that said ESPN1000 out of Chicago was reporting that he would be dealt by Monday. No one knows when it will happen, but we do know he will be moved. I’ve heard everything from before the winter meetings to Monday.

I’ve also seen that the Braves have inquired about Scott Olson. And Frenchie is allegedly off the blocks and will be the starting RF for 2009.

So you can make a sarcastic remark but you can’t answer my question?

by TheSportsIdiot on Nov 7, 2008 9:13 PM EST up reply actions

Because I am fair and honest

I’ll throw in this quote from Towers:

"Trade discussions with Jake have been progressing nicely, although no deal is imminent at this time," Towers said.

Fox News is fair and balanced. They report, you decide?

No, not a Fox man at all. I get all of my news from Comedy Central.

I have no clue who that is. Is she hot? I shall Google…

by TheSportsIdiot on Nov 9, 2008 12:34 PM EST up reply actions

No she's not..

…and she bats for the other team – if you get my drift. First heard of her, when she did mornings for Air America.

But I think this should be the end of mentioning any sort of politics.

im kidding…. we can leave it at that

isn’t there a rule that if you sign a major league contract it has to be so long before you can be traded

by jack dein on Nov 6, 2008 7:30 PM EST reply actions

Not that I am aware of.

The only limitations I can think of are the 10/5 rule and I’m not sure the actual rule but isn’t there something in place to protect a player once he is traded to a team so that he can’t just be traded again? Of course, didn’t Langerhans get traded twice in a week or so?

Why is everyone so angry today?

by beeniez on Nov 6, 2008 8:16 PM EST reply actions

I guess that is my fault?

I guess they didn’t like me linking to my blog and using the word imminent.

Today?

Don’t you mean all of 2008?

No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

Amen. The ushers are awesome. And so is Sandy, the “designated driver/free soda lady” (she let me sit with her in field level seats at the [bitter] end).
Is it February yet?
