Lets talk offense
Obviously the biggest offensive need this year is a quality OF who can drive in runs. The first question is whether it’s through a trade or free agency. Which seems like the better option, understanding that the braves can compete this year? Is Dunn an option, he seems to be under the radar for some reason, as he is an offensive monster? This is clearly mute at the moment as it is a move that will be based on payroll from other signings and trade bait. But as the team stands, poised to make a run at the division title, what is the consensus?

Byrnes
Eric Byrnes is coming off a injury and the D’backs want cap room to resign some off their free agents(Dunn, Lyon, Cruz, Hudson, Johnson and more. Byrnes is owed 20 mill in the next 2 years. Thats not that bad of a contract to take on if he can produce b/c the years are very small. But the problem is and was is when he came off the hamstring injury he didn’t hit very well but that might have been b/c of the previous injury. Then i believe he missed the rest of the year by reaggravating the injury. What do you guys think of Byrnes? By the way they will probably be lookin for a 2nd baseman to replace Hudson so they might try Johnson but Wren won’t let that happen. Maybe Prado, also they need bullpen help b/c of their free agents. Im interested but very skeptical. sorry for the errors didn’t have time to read through it.

i lost you once you said eric byrnes. i lost you again when you said cap room. i don’t know in what world where a 32 year old OF who has never hit .300, hit 30 homers, drove in 100 runs, or had an 850 OPS is considered some sort of POWER BAT THAT WE NEED IN A CORNER. oh, and he’s coming off leg problems. its not like OFs run at all.
Following the Braves...one long hard drink at a time.

Knowing our luck, the Braves will get Byrnes anyway, and during spring training, he’ll think he’s faster than Gregor Blanco, and challenge him to a sprinting contest, and re-shred his hamstrings all over again.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

I wouldn’t trade for Byrnes with that contract for a bag of balls. No reason why we should take on other team’s bad contracts. Byrnes is just not very good.

I would like to get Dunn. We don’t really have any power guys in our lineup, and while he does K a lot he also has a high on-base percentage. Considering the market for him is a lot quieter than I expected it to be, I bet we could get him for $13-14 mill/year. For a guy in the middle of his power prime, I’ll take that.

Moot, Not Mute.
I’d like to snag the under-the-radar types right now. Not only a Dunn, but a Ben Sheets as well. Then trade to fill the remaining needs.

“It’s a moo point.”
“…Did you just say a ‘moo’ point?”
“Yeah, it’s like a cow’s opinion…it doesn’t matter. It’s moo.”

Dunn
I still say that Dunn should be our 1st priority right now. He gives us some extra added power in the OF and can play some 1st base if we need to if Kotchman doesn’t get the job done. He also gives a boost to any other FA that we are serious about the future.

Wren seriously needs to get Dunn and Sheets
No one is talking about Sheets, so I think he would be pretty cheap. He does have an injury history, but he is a dominant pitcher when healthy. And Dunn is an offensive powerhouse. Is Francoeur decides to get on base and hit some dingers every now and then next year, him and Dunn would be a dominant OF combination.

Byrnes No, Dunn Why Not....
Eric “Bum” Byrnes is not the solution in the OF. You guys know we need a power OF so why are we even mentioning Eric. I would explore my options via trade before I go after Dunn. I’ll call the Astros to see if Carlos Lee is ava, or continue working the phones and see whats the deal with Jermaine Dye, who can come with Javier Vasquez.
I like Dunn but he’s a hit or miss. He hits alot of Homeruns and we didnt hit alot of those last year but he strikes out so much. Yes, I will consider Dunn but first lets see whats out there.

He’s a good option, the only thing against him is cost and that he bats left.

And defense
But mostly the LH, which I don’t really buy into.

The only things that concern me...
are his commitment and his (lack of) defense.
