El Reporto says Rafael Furcal could sign with the Brave ones of Atlanta
In case you'd like a translation, here is the (rather hilarious) translation given by Babelfish:
The good son to his house returns.
That could occur at any time if Rafael Furcal signs with the Brave ones of Atlanta.
According to Impactodeportivo.com.do, the Brave ones knew, without making racket, could sign it shortly.
In fact, the agent of Furcal, Paul Kinzel said that there was an equipment surprise after Furcal, and that is Atlanta.
His first six years in Great Leagues were in Atlanta. Of by life, Furcal bats,286, with 83 home runs, 418 towed and 259 bases robbed.
The pact with Atlanta would be of four years and 52 million dollars.
I laughed like a little girl when I read that. I find absolutely no truth in this rumor, other than the fact that Furcal probably "wants" to return to the Brave ones and his agent is making racket. As a side note, I really hope we get more reports that we have to translate.

If you read between the lines I think that this says that when we sign Furcal then the deal with the Padres for Peavy will be completed.
Thats what I think it is saying
But uou can’t translate Spanish word for word. Because that happens.
4/52
Just sign Sabathia if that is the case. The cost of Peavey and Furcal would be the same as signing Sabathia to that huge contract he wants. Plus you don’t lose Escobar. I don’t think the Braves would be giving that kind of money to Furcal.
But that puts $23 million/year on one player. Meaning that if he gets hurt, that’s a lot of money down the drain. I see what you’re saying, but I’d rather spread the wealth a little.
Besides, I don’t really understand why people here are so in love with Yunel as to consider him irreplaceable. He’s great and I love the guy, but Furcal is not worse than him…in fact, I’d say he’s still the better SS overall, provided he stays healthy. The reason people love Yunel is that he’s young and super cheap. Well, if we can get a guy like Peavy for cheap and a good SS for the money that we’d need to give up for another stud pitcher, why wouldn’t we?

Young, cheap, and one of the better defensive SS in baseball
and hey, a .360 OBP isn’t too shabby, either.

Simple
I consider Sabathia and Peavey pretty equal, but not Furcal and Escobar
Peavey’s contract starts going up considerably after ’09
Furcal is past his peak, in the decline phase of his career while Escobar is entering his peak years at a considerably lower cost. There are less health concerns with Yunel and he is better defensively.
In the third year of Furcal’s proposed deal the Braves would be paying approximately 28-29 million for Furcal and Peavey. At the same time they would probably pay the same for a Sabathia and Yunel combo depending on Esco’s arbitration. But you don’t have to give up extra talent to get Sabathia.
It may just be me, but I would rather have the young improving shortstop and talent I didn’t give up getting Peavey.
This makes no sense...
and I’m not talking about that hilarious translation, either.

This move would make ZERO sense
The combined cost of Peavy/Furcal has to be less than what it would cost to sign CC or Burnett, or else it’s a bad deal. Why trade guys like Morton/Hernandez/Boyer when you’re not going to save any money? If FW does this, he’s a bad GM. Period.
