"You have to tip your hat to that guy," Athletics first base prospect Josh Donaldson said of [Atlanta Braves pitching prospect Tommy] Hanson. "Just getting a hit off of him is a big accomplishment. We were hoping to get some runs off of him and we were fortunate to get one, but in the next inning, things seemed to open up for us." [...]
"Tommy Hanson is a great pitcher," Donaldson said. "When you see someone new after him, it makes the at-bats seem a little easier. It's not that the other guys are bad, but Hanson's that good."
Donaldson faced Hanson in Saturday's AFL Championship game
Hanson went five innings, allowing one run on three hits and a walk, while striking out eight. The next pitcher surrendered the lead and took the loss.

I haven’t be able to see this guy pitch, but I’m really looking forward to hopefully watching him next year at Turner Field.

I didn’t see him pitch until the game yesterday… and his curve was amazing.

Steve Avery ...
… was the last time I was this excited about an ATL pitching prospect. Think about how far Hanson’s come since just last year. Please don’t rush him.

that is the smartest thing ive heard in a while… take our time theres no reason to have him start on the big club at the beginning of the year… he can still learn some more (i dont quite know what else he needs to learn but i assume the coaches do)
"We win today, that's two in a row... if we win tomorrow, that's called a winning streak. It has happened before..."

Let him try...
Just like Jurrjens, but evaluate his preparedness realistically.

Filthy
Thanks to JFP for posting that video clip – I haven’t gotten to see Hanson pitch yet and let me just say that clip makes me excited. I still think we need to try hard to get Peavy, and I think Wren’s still got something up his sleeve, because with Peavy, Jurrjens, and Hanson in the rotation for the next 4 years, we could get another run going!
