Flowers Tied For HR Lead
It's the Arizona Fall League, and T-Flow is tied for the lead in HRs with 6. He's hitting .419 with an OPS of 1.533. On the bad, he does have 8 walks to 14 strikeouts, but I'd take his overall production. Here's hoping he doesn't get traded. I know Freeman is the stud of the future, but I say again let's see something above Low A first. Flowers could be the man.
By the way, where has everybody been lately?????

He's tearing stuff up...
Overall, the K/BB doesn’t worry me at all – his career numbers are 206 strikeouts to 163 walks, and this year he only struck out 4 more times than he walked. His power is definitely for real, probably in the 25 home run range over a full ML season. I expect he’ll handle AA ball next year and hopefully be in the lineup at first base by 2010.

Flowers
I don’t want to see Flowers get traded either. I wonder if he could play LF. I think he is a legitimae bat and, yes, Freeman (ad does Flowrers) has a lot still to prove.

if either of them got moved to LF, it would be Freeman. He is slightly more athletic than Flowers, not that that means anything. BUt i highly doubt either would stick at L, esp not with the amount of athletic OFs we have.

No telling what will happen in the next 2-3 years…I EXPECT to see something like this:
C-Brian McCann
1st- Freddie Freeman ~ 2011
2nd-Kelly Johnson
SS-Yunel Escobar
3rd-Acquistion (I’m not buying Gilmore)
LF-Jason Heyward ~ 2011
CF-Jordan Schafer ~ 2009
RF-Jeff Francouer

I still think..
…that Schafer is a looong shot to make the opening day roster as the starting CF.

I've suggested that JS should be the opening day CF
But if the Braves can avoid putting him on the 40-man roster and get him another 500 mL at-bats, that’s probably a better solution. On the other hand, if the idea is to contend in 2010, it might be a good idea to get him 200 or so at-bats in Atlanta this year, so he’ll have a better idea of what he needs to do to be successful in 2010.

I think there’s an outside chance that Flowers makes it to the majors in 2009. We have the luxury of seeing what he’s got before trading him. If we don’t make any major trades, I see the following prospects making the majors in the following timeframe:
Schafer-May 09
Hanson-July 09 maybe earlier
Medlen-July 09
Flowers-Sept 09 maybe earlier
G Hernandez-Sept 09
We may see Kimbrel possibly make his ML debut as well.
That’s a nice crop of young players.

There’s a big difference between the Hanson-Schafer class and the Flowers-Gorkys class. Gorkys may not make his ML debut until late next year or 2011 just because of how raw he is. The only reason Schafer could play next summer is his ML level defense. Gorkys doesn’t have that going for him.
Flowers won’t unless he stops catching and that would ruin his value.
As for Kimbrel, if Medlen hasn’t made his ML debut 3 years after being drafted, he won’t make it after 1 year.

Woah, what’s that now about Gorkys’ defense? Jordan is certainly better, maybe the best in the minors right now, but Gorkys is no slouch. That dude can defend in the bigs right this minute. He’s fast, he makes good reads, and his arm is at worst average if not a little above.

Yeah, it’s good, but it’s not the elite ML ready defense Schafer shows.

Alright, I see where you’re coming from on this one.

I wouldn’t want them to rush Kimbrel either especially after the Devine debacle.

Gorkys will not be in the majors this year, atr least i dont think so.. he didnt have that great of a season and certainly didnt improve (part of that is injuries). But he isnt ready, defensively or offensively and I dont see him making the strides needed to be ready, he might be a sept callup for trade bait in the offseason but that would be at the best.
