Around SBN: Jim Irsay: We Can Make It Work With Peyton Manning

It's probably a little too early to talk about him...

but Miles Head is an absolute beast.  He is currently a senior at Whitewater High School in Fayetteville, GA.  He is a catcher, 1B, and 3B.  In 2005, Baseball America ranked him the best 15 year old player in the U.S.  He recently signed a letter of intent to go to UGA, but it says if he is taken in the first two rounds of the June draft, he will not go to UGA.  I have a pretty good feeling he will be taken in one of the first two rounds and knowing how the Braves like them hometown boys, I think they might take a chance on him.  Chipper is getting old, and after Freddie Freeman we don't have much when it comes to prospects at first and basically no good prospects at third, so he could possibly be Chipper's successor.  I know I am probably thinking ahead too far, but it's fun to think about him playing for the Braves.

A little early for general managers...

but not for bloggers. Good find. I have been worried about what we are gonna do when we put Chipper out to pasture.

As a Braves fan and UGA alum/fan

I’m always kind of torn when the Braves (or anyone else) draft guys who intended on going to UGA to play ball.

I guess it’s still a win if they end up playing for the big club, though.

I know for now the Braves are keeping him at C and I know Flowers has said he wants to be a C but man I sure wish he was a 1B.

Don’t worry, we already have Corky Miller and Scott Thorman.

No we don’t. They’re both free agents.
