Go Phillies!

I never, ever thought I'd say that.  Even in this World Series I've been pulling for the Rays, where I usually pull for the National League team just because.  But I can't stand the Phillies.  But once this thing is over, the Braves (and everybody else) can get down to business, right?  So I'm ready  - all the speculation and trade talk can come to an end.  The free-agent stuff can finally get started.  And sooner if the Phillies win.  So here's hoping for a Phillies win tonight, and baseball business on Tuesday!

I second that emotion!

I was gonna jump on for that post, but after reading it I agree. Go Fillies!

Can't say I agree

I loathe Philadelphia, and all its sports teams, as long as I live.

This is like a nightmare, that they’re on the cusp of the crown. And the fact that the Rays (namely Iwamura, Peña and Longoria) are choking like an Alex Rodriguez, a John Starks, and a Nick Anderson all in one, it gives little hope that they’ve got any chance in hell to make a comeback let alone the fact that Cole Hamels is pitching tonight.

I can never root for any Philadelphia sports team. I don’t care if the Phillies are playing the Cuban national team, or if the Flyers were playing against the Soviet Union national hockey squad. I’d cheer for the Cowboys against the Eagles (I am a Redskins fan), and despite the fact that the NBA is stupid, I’d rather cheer for a WNBA team to beat the 76ers if there ever was an Andy Kaufman-like battle-of-the-sexes basketball game.

No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

Agreed.

Although, i believe if a basketball game goes on and i don’t see it, did it really happen?

Sadly, i doth believe its over. Much like the 1991 season, this worst to first run will most likely win without a World Series title.

i concur. since i live 100 miles from philly, i have to deal with an insane amount of bandwagon hoppers, who are all of a sudden rocking their red t-shirts despite them never saying a word about baseball, ever

i must give kudos great references and/or analogies

"We win today, that's two in a row... if we win tomorrow, that's called a winning streak. It has happened before..."

Go to a Braves – Phillies game in Philadelphia and wear Braves stuff. I guarantee you will never root for them again.

Kinda missing the point here.....

I couldn’t care less about the World Series….I’m ready for it to be over, and the sooner the better! I’m ready for some real Braves news, which won’t really happens until the series is over. That’s where this was headed…..I’d never really root for the Phillies (or the Mets, Yankees, or any other team I despise)….but to further the cause of the team I love, I say be done with it!

See, I could have just said it that way to begin with, but how boring is that?
themurph got me……

Uh, I’d rather see another three good baseball games rather than have the season end now. Especially if the alternative is the fucking Phillies winning it.

+1

As much as I’d like to get on with the off season and start improving our team, I just couldn’t stomach a Philly WS win. Go RAYS!!!!

by scstrato on Oct 27, 2008 5:23 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah...

I understand the sentiment, but I HATE the Philthies. I’m like royhobbs…I’m a big Redskins fan as well (man, it feels good to be able to admit that this year!), and rooting against any team from Philly is what I do best. Besides, the offseason will come soon enough, and I’d rather see a few more games rather than getting the ball rolling a few days earlier.

Ah well, so I disagree with you all!

And you know, I think I can live with that…….no later than Thursday, though. Any later than that and I’ll need some therapy.

Game 5 of World Series suspended because of rain in sixth inning

Okay – this is some kind of punishment, isn’t it……

Phillies

I rather see the games get rained out till december than see them win the world series cause jimmy rollins would never shut up if they won the world series

Good point

I was indifferent until you mentioned that. Rollins is annoying.

i’m legitimately afraid of all the bandwagon jumpers tomorrow…so much so, that i might not go to class and actually stay home and deal with trick or treaters. yikes. gonna be a long day
