Game Time: 7:10pm on and

Lots of news this morning. First off, EXCELLENT game last night. Buddy managed his way through several jams, thanks in large part to several double plays. The bullpen pitched great, and oh yeah, this guy named Francoeur is becoming a really difficult out. Chipper Jones also showed why he loves playing at the stadium he named one of his sons after. But Frenchy is now hitting .310 - that's good enough for 13th in the league. Perhaps I'll do a little "Frenchy fun fact" of my own later today.

As for Braves notes, old man Franco has accepted his minor league assignment and will be playing at both Rome and Myrtle during the rest of the month. I'm looking forward to getting him back when rosters expand.

Sometime around midnight EST last night, Barry Bonds broke Hank's record off Nationals pitcher Mike Bacsik. Aaron even broke his silence with what seems like a partly gritted teeth video salute to the new *home run king.

Remember to BLACKOUT THE TED August 14th through 16th!

Don't forget to get your picks in before the game for Nok-A-Homa-Win-A-Lotta (click here to learn how to play and to view the leaderboard); the three categories are (1) Attendance, (2) Pick to Click, and (3) Above and Beyond Pick.

Bonds did in fact hug his son at home plate, RehabReject.  I'm not sure what game you were watching.

1 - 53,000
2 - Smoltz
3 - el qualitato starto por senor smoltzo.

haha ok
well, your eyes and love for Lamar must be deceiving you. Look at it again.

Bonds steps on home plate, points up to the sky, his son has his arms around Bonds, Bonds doesn't put his arms around his son. Bonds claps, turns to the side and hugs Bengie Molina.

a hug is when BOTH parties put arms around each other. The son hugs Bonds, but Bonds never puts his arms around his son. He might have done it after hugging his team, waving at the crowd, and giving his speech .. but he totally left his son hanging at home plate.

Conclusion: douche

I second that... he's a douche.

Barry who?
When A-Rod passes him for all time HR without help, baseball black mark will be over. Cooperstown steroids wing sponsored by Balco, will have their last member with Bonds, right along with Sosa, Canseco, McGuire, and Sheffield.

Also, could anyone stand to watch Sportscenter today?  I cut it off after looking down that ridiculous lineup thing and seeing nothing but Barry Bonds crap on it with the little tizzy in Toronto thrown in.  Urgh.

ugh...
...can I say that was the most disappointing game all season?  I may be a little over the mark (since I was watching the game with two of my buddies who are Mets fans), but Soriano was completely out of line tossing a pitch at the letters with that much over the plate.

Not to mention how much I hate Andruw right now...

by Smoltzs Beard on Aug 8, 2007 10:58 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs
