Braves still have a shot here. Here's hoping that the Teixeira song being played live at Turner Field tonight brings the team some new found motivation and a little pop in their bats.

Technically the Braves are still in it until the last week of the season but can anyone really picture the Braves making the playoffs without taking 5 of 6 from the Mets and Phillies in this current homestand?

It's Pretty Simple...

We need to win 15 of 20 to have a shot, I think. That's where it gets tough because we have not done that all year. Obviously with the Mets in town it's make or break. We just can't afford to lose a series now and we should start with just winning the series, not pushing for a sweep. The Phils have really shown that it can be done - peaking at the right time - and maybe we can step it up a notch. I'm happy we're keeping Diaz in there but our bats really disappear at times. Zero discipline. Looking forward to the weekend.

Worried

Because statistically speaking there's no way the Mets are going to lose 3 more in a row. But I could be wrong, they've GOT to be demoralized after dropping 5 especially the way they've lost the last two.

the odds of them losing 8 in row right now are the same as them losing 3 to us in a row at any point, whats already happened doesn't affect statistics

Is that totally true? I was a pathetic math student, so I don't believe I ever reached Statistics and Probability and ll that. I'm glad we have Hudson going against John Maine tonight. What a great game. Maine is going to be a great, great pitcher. I'm hoping he's tiring because he's still young. Such an important game.

not too delve too far off topic

but its like flipping a coin. flipping heads eight times in a row is very unlikely (1 divided by 2 to the eigth power). But once you've flipped heads five times, the odds of doing it three more times is just 1 divided by 2 to the third power, or the same as ever flipping 3 heads in a row.

So Frustrating...

Watching this game, but it really shines a light on how we play and what kind of team we are. John Maine is bringing it in a must win and Tim Hudson isn't AND we just get no momentum, offensively. Still not taking pitches (Francouer just popped up a first pitch fastball) Playing shit baseball at the worst possible time. I hope I have to write a sheepish email later contradicting myself but I doubt it.

What a terrible game. I'm finger pointing right now at... Chipper (Sorry, dude) bases loaded, no outs, a hall of famer in a game that can help swing an entire season and we get an infield fly. just awful. the mets came to play.
