|Today's Starting Pitchers|
Game Time: 7:05 on
With the momentum Cormier (may have) had after his performance in spring training, it's too bad we weren't able to get a month or two of decent starts out of him before his decline. He spent that magical time on the DL instead, and in yesterday's game he looked disoriented, like whatever temporary groove he was in during spring training was long gone. Unless Davies and Chuckie step up and show some consistency soon, I'm going to really start worrying that this rotation will be our undoing.
Interestingly, Cormier's next start is also against Sean Marshall, in Atlanta on Friday. Could be another disaster, but at least we'll have Joe doing his awkward soda product placement schtick to lighten the mood -- it will be a Sonic-sponsored TBS Xtra game. We might also be treated to more "Salty at first!" comic relief if things get out of hand, though actually he didn't look that bad. I'm all for seeing him get a few more turns over there -- I wanted Thor to have a real chance to claim the position, but that hasn't exactly gone the way I'd hoped.
I'll be at tonight's game against the Marlins, with good seats behind the dugout, so I'll bring my crappy camera and try to take some pictures. Any requests?
Gondee will be back soon (Wednesday, I think) -- he's on a business trip this week.
