Two Cents on The Jones Boys
Chipper
Maybe its just the fact that hes annoyingly been my brothers favorite player since Nam
and he has been the Poster Boy [blahh] of the Braves forever,
but Chipper's growing number of little injuries over the years really grinds my gears.
It seems he is constantly having a seemingly minor injury that keeps him out for days.
Bruised wrists? ehhh.. yah i mean im aware that its going to make batting highly uncomfortable, but i dunno.
Am i being too hard on him or is anybody else annoyed?
Get healthy Old Man!!
Andruw
Obviously Andruw's lackluster performance so far this year has raised a lot of speculation on his free agency motives
and natural ability [with Starks belief that Andruw is the most overrated center fielder.]
So all of this heat coming down on him really makes me wonder "have i really been missing the big picture about Andruw Jones?"
When recently talking to a close friend of mine who is a Dodgers fan
he told me he couldn't stand Andruw because of his overwhelming amount of arrogance.
This statement caught me a litle off-guard because i always felt Andruws strikeout smirks and defensive antics a little bit endearing.
But with his recent comments basically saying
"Hey im a powerhitter i do what i want no matter how much my team or performance suffers"
It really made me wonder.
How much is this kid invested into this team and is he in it for the love of the game?
Has Andruw become too big for his britches?
Is he truly having fun playing baseball with the huge child-like smile he always seems to have on his face?
Or is it a smug smile displaying how proud of himself he is and the amount of money hes rolling in?
I never like to me one to jump of the bandwagon for anything but this situation does raise a lot of questions.
--Also ... isnt his "oh no! Lost the ball whered it go? OH! just kidding im right under it. gosh im so funny." bit getting a litle old?

i understand, but...
as a fan, it's natural to get annoyed. when i learned that chipper would once again miss a few games, i reacted with something like, "oh god, damnit chipper," and so on, etc. but everyone's body responds differently to the wear and tear of a baseball career. i personally believe that he always wants to be out there playing hard every game -- so when he misses a game, i assume that it's because he is really in that much pain.
on andruw:
if andruw were an arrogant jackass, he would not have lasted as long with an organization like the braves. it's not a good environment for an arrogant ass. and although it's a matter of personal taste, i for one still love the "whoopsie where did the ball go?" trick, in part because it never actually works (i like his stick-to-itiveness).

Andruw
his whole way of batting is fucked up..and if Andruw doesn't change the way he bats he will have a lot of back problems very soon.
i think Andruw is holding the Braves back .. they should spend andruw's salery on a starting pitcher ....

Just Goes To Show
As for Andruw, I think we all started to turn on him when we realized that he wasn't coming back after this offseason. I still held out hope into this season, but now that it's gone, it's hard to stand by him as he struggles. His antics were endearing when he was younger and we could all still believe that the difference between his actual performance and the ideal projections was time, but that's gone now, too. Andruw is now what he will be until he retires and it's not what we all dreamed it would be. Hell, I thought we'd be cheering on the next Willie Mayes as his Braves cap and uniform were enshrined.
