Around SBN: MLB Trade Deadline: Phils, Astros complete Roy Oswalt deal

The Mark Redman experience is over in Atlanta

Redman was released today and Joey Devine was called up. Also, Cox said that Redman's rotation spot would temporarily be taken by someone to be called up from Richmond, mentioning Buddy Carlyle and Trey Hodges. This says to me that a bigger move is in the making. Either that, or they are just waiting for Cormier to get healthy.

The Chopping Block
Notice how Redman is the 3rd brave in less of two months of ball to get the hack.  I like how its play or pay

Good riddance.
I still can't believe they gave him as many second chances as they did.

Regrets.
We will live to regret handing Redman that many starts and giving Langy/Wilson all those AB.  This is shaping up to be a tight race in the East and it could determine homefield in the NL playoffs, so I have this bad feeling about those decisions.  I'm happy and impressed by the decisions to get rid of these guys as quickly as they did, but I wish it hadn't come to that.

Buddy Carlyle and Trey Hodges might not be flashy names or hot prospects, but they've been shutting it down at AAA, so it's a step in the right direction.  I think the Braves are holding on until Cormier comes back, but I hope they go out and make a big move instead.  I'll refer you to the Mega-Deals diary I wrote earlier for details.

Good Riddance Redman
I agree with ejruiz.  Lots of starts and ab's for these guys, but at least the bleeding is stopped a little quicker this season.  Next on the block:  Orr.  Please god let me not see this guy with a bat in his hand again.  Great win tonight against the Mets.  We need to take at least two of these.  Good luck.

But, Redman was an all star last year.
I am hoping that the Cards think that he is worth a pick up.  Let's Dave Duncan turn this one around.

I am glad he is gone and I am hoping that Carlyle gets his chance.
