Game Time: 7:05pm on

The power came back! It's about frickin' time. Zach Duke was the old Zach Duke for about five innings, but in the sixth inning Andruw and Frenchy got to him back to back and that was enough to secure the win for Davies, who pitched really good. He missed me giving him a "really great" because he got out of a lot of jams thanks to 3 double plays.

My favorite part of the game was the stick-it-to-'em of closing out the game with the guy we acquired from them, Mike Gonzalez. The added bonus was that the guy he was traded, Adam LaRoche, grounded into the fourth double play for the Pirates to end the threat in the ninth. Just a big OUCH.

The big concerns of the game were two baserunning plays that could have injured two key components of the Braves' offense. Chipper Jones was flipped over on the basepaths as he approached third. It was close to interference on the part of Chip, but he was called safe. The real concern is that he came down on his hand and shoulder and may have hurt or bruised either. He stayed in the game, as did Brian McCann who seemed to jam his hand while diving headfirst back into the bag at second on a pickoff attempt. We'll see if both guys are in the lineup today.

Three Rivers... Where Have You Gone..
Watching the other night, I was disappointed in the fact that Pittsburgh has a brand new stadium (O.K... it's a couple of years old).  I remember in 1992, Game 5 of the NLCS, myself and a number of Fraternity Brothers took an overnight road trip to "watch the Braves with the NLDS in Pittsburgh".  Although we were disappointed, it was a trip I will always remember as one of the most moronic things I have ever done...

Anyway...

  1.  28,500
  2.  Slick Willie
  3.  Braves win by Tony Armas' # minus Chuck James' #.
