Game Time: 7:35 on

On paper this should be a blowout game...with the Cubs blowing out the Braves. We're sending our worst pitcher to the mound and Chicago is sending their best pitcher to the mound. We'll see how our plug pitches tonight, I'm guessing about as poorly as he has his last two starts...ugh.

Add to that the unfortunate news that Mike Gonzalez' elbow could be giving out:

As he struggled through his first few Spring Training outings, Braves left-handed reliever Mike Gonzalez indicated he was healthy. But just two weeks into the season, Gonzalez finds himself with a tender elbow that will be evaluated via an MRI on Thursday.

"I'm going to be fine," Gonzalez said after the Braves claimed their 8-6 win over the Cubs at Turner Field on Wednesday night. "It's just a little sore."

I hate bad news.

1.) 24,789
2.) Mark "Plug" Redman
3.) Redman gets the win, pitches six innings

*Just for kicks - if #3 is not correct, look for him to take Gonzalez's spot in the pen as he goes on the DL, HURRY UP CORMIER, to take his spot in the rotation

Humm
Good point. Let's hope it doesn't come to that though.

Redman.
Bobby said in an interview last night on Braves Live it almost came to Redman having to pitch from the bullpen and that's just a scary thought. Bobby also said he was glad it didn't have to come to that. So are we.

The sliding catch was good, but not great. If he had made that catch on the second homerun ball that would have been great.

NAHWAL Results for Game 15
Attendance for tonight's game was 31,603. With a guess of 31,487, Velcro Vernacular gets the point.

Only one player of the game, and that was Kelly Johnson. Points go to Rain Delay, CaptainRockSxD, mccannfan, gramsey712, mfan6, and mhsiegel14.

It wasn't a positive, but torchy gets a point for his AAB pick, as does BarryFreakinBonds, RehabReject, SJsftb27, and CaptainRockSxD.

by gondeee on Apr 19, 2007 10:33 PM EDT reply actions

c'mon now
Andruw and SYNAPS are two strikeout-prone players. Through 14 games:
Francoeur 14 K
A. Jones 16 K
C. Jones 10 K

average of 2.85 K's per game with those three. and they struck out ONCE on a night where as a team they had 4 hits.

by RehabReject on Apr 19, 2007 11:05 PM EDT up reply actions

It's a point!
Look, we all knew tonight was going to be bad. Our batting practice pitcher was on the mound (despite his quality start) and we were up against a tough arm with 2 of our best in slumps.

by torchy on Apr 20, 2007 12:07 AM EDT up reply actions

uh
"we all knew tonight was going to be bad"

--this is irrelevant and has nothing to do with my AAB pick. if anything, it validates my pick since "we all knew it was going to be bad", yet the 3-4-5 hitters only struck out once.

"our batting practice pitcher was on the mound"

--completely irrelevant to my AAB pick

"we were up against a tough arm"

--I guess. I don't think the Cubs themselves knew who this Hill guy was

"2 of our best in slumps"

--yes, and I predicted that they would NOT do what hitters usually do while slumping which is strike out a lot

I guess I'm just bitter because I put some effort into my AAB picks while others go for very lame things like "Redman will suck" or "Redman WON'T suck"

by RehabReject on Apr 20, 2007 1:48 AM EDT up reply actions

Wow
You really did put some effort into that. Nonetheless, I must stand by my original scoring.

by gondeee on Apr 20, 2007 8:32 AM EDT up reply actions

Bitter?
Bitter seems like an understatement. I defend my pick as it was the only pick I could come up with that had any positive characteristics.

by torchy on Apr 20, 2007 10:20 AM EDT up reply actions

let's go braves?
so out of 9 players taking the field, there's nothing positive you can try to come up regarding any of them? way to root for your team.
