Offer to Mike Lowell?

PrintI read on mlbtraderumors.com that we made an offer to Mike Lowell. Where do they think they are going to play him if we somehow do sign him? I know that Chipper is injury prone, but offering someone a 4 year, 10+ million dollar contract to be a back up seems kind of crazy unless you are the yankees. I know we aren't thinking of moving Chipper to the outfield cause his legs may explode if he goes back out there, so why would we do this? Thoughts?
