A-Rod to Atlanta, eh?

Eric Karabell, of the Evil Empire, er ESPN, has an interesting thought on A-Rod: The Renteria trade has opened up a huge whole in the left side that can be filled by the one, the only, Alex Rodriguez.

I know how big of a contract he will require, but Atlanta might be a good spot for him. Semi-apathetic fans, not a ton of media scrutiny and a great spot in the lineup for him.

Don't care what you think, but it has been suggested. You can find it in the "Blogs" section at ESPN.com

The Braves did talk to him when he was last a free agent and apparntly had the second highest offer.

No, no, and no.
2 reasons.
1)It is unlikely that the Braves will ever even negotiate with Boras again.
2) The Braves front office preaches fiscal responsibility.  This has not changed with JS stepping down.

umm...
wasnt one of the points of getting rid of rents bc we had too many ss? there are others who arent so sure a-rod would be a good ss anymore anyway, considering his age and the amount of time it's been since he played there...

andruw
he's not even playing here anymore and he is still screwing us.  just learned he a type B free agent.

All that means
Is that had we offered him arbitration and he had declined is that we would have gotten a sandwich pick....correct me if I am wrong.

Thank god we didn't offer him arbitration.

boras
i don't think any team can blanketly refuse to negotiate with boras.  he's a dick but he also reps many of the great players in the game.  the braves could avoid him up to a point, but they'll have to deal with him sooner than later.  as for arod... no way it happens in atlanta.  seems a very strange fit.  he's going to the angels, most likely.

Tex
I should certainly hope that we will negotiate with Scotty, because I want Tex long-term.

Agreed
I guess I was just referring to JS' comments regarding the initial offer for AJ.  I also hope that we can sign Tex long term, although Boras' record for allowing his players to sign extenisions before testing Free Agency is not stellar.
