There are many detractors of Frenchy out there; those who put a lot of emphasis on OBP and other such "Moneyball" stats. I came across this stat for Jeff Francoeur regarding 2-out RBIs. While the one he drove in yesterday was simply the product of hustle to beat out a double play, it is worth noting that he leads the Major Leagues in that category. Not bad for a 22 year old who does not yet have a full season under his belt in the Majors.
Most Two-Out RBI in MLB
Rank, Player, Team, Two-Out RBI
1. Jeff Francoeur, ATL - 31
2. Ryan Howard, PHI - 30
3. David Ortiz, BOS - 28
4. Hank Blalock, TEX - 25
4. Nick Swisher, OAK - 25
Now I know people are going to draw different conclusions from this. Some are going to say that the guys in front of Francoeur get on base a lot so he has a bunch of opportunities to drive in runs. Or that because Francoeur doesn't score a lot of runs that he hurts the team, and other such complaints. I'm simply pointing it out. I'd also like to point out that he is on pace to finish the season with 30 HRs and 100 RBIs. It took Chipper until his second full season to reach those kinds of numbers, and it took Andruw until his fourth full season to achieve them.
